Hi everyone. I’m really scared I committed the unpardonable sin. Last night I woke up to thoughts calling Jesus horrible things.. so I said no, rebuked them and listened to some worship music. Boom another thought calling Jesus something bad. I try and do some research on what the unpardonable sin is, so I know I haven’t committed it. I get happy thinking I haven’t, then another thought calling Jesus something similar to what the Pharisees said. I got so scared and was like “what? No” and started praying and asking God for help.. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m so disturbed because of the tone the thought was in too. I was willingly thinking “so I haven’t committed it” and was very happy, then the thought tacked on like “so Jesus is *blasphemy*!” And I don’t agree with it at all. I’m horrified and my body keeps shaking. I’m so scared. I know God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all good. I even prayed to God yesterday and told him: “I know You are real and good, I know Jesus is real and good, I know the Holy Spirit is real and good, and I know the Bible is real and good. That is my official stance on everything” as I was combatting more intrusive thoughts. Have I committed this sin? Please help me.

I believe it would be good to soak in the love of God for you. These are simply thoughts, though they be very distressing for you. Also seeing a therapist has helped many.

Remember Jesus, he knows what you are going through and has love and compassion for you. John 6:37 has been a comfort to me and may be a comfort to you as well. Trust in Jesus and his word :)

Here is a song you may like as well. It speaks of Jesus as the Gentle Savior and is a song of trusting him. I like it a lot.

I don’t know what’s happening to me.. there’s like this nasty malicious voice in my head.. like two trains of thought. It actually said “let’s commit the unforgivable sin” and then blurted out basically what the Pharisees said. I asked God for forgiveness and while I was praying out loud I meant to say “these thoughts are a lie” but I said Jesus was instead. I am so scared and I said I know Jesus is not a lie and he is the way the truth and the life. I said I know the devil is a lie and I won’t be decieved into thinking such things and prayed, then got some rest.. I had intrusive thoughts while trying to sleep saying things among this nature too, but I fell asleep.. I woke up and I don’t feel panicked. Has the Holy Spirit left me??

Hello Prayerful,

Be assured that you have not committed Blasphemy against the Spirit. You're not the Lone Ranger regarding those types of thoughts coming into your consciousness. Remember, the powers of darkness can, for lack of a better word, interject those into your thoughts. I'm sure that everyone reading this has had or is having these same types of issues.

First of all, it is important to understand what Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is. So let's look at what prompted Jesus to say this:

=====================================================================
Then a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute was brought to Jesus, and He healed the man so that he could speak and see. 23The crowds were astounded and asked, “Could this be the Son of David?”

24But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “Only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons.”

25Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? 27And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your sons drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. 28But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and steal his possessions, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

30He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

31Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the one to come.

==========================================================================

The simple answer is that, since Jesus was casting out demons by the Spirit of God and the Pharisees said that He was casting them out through the power of Satan, then they were calling the Holy Spirit and unclean spirit. Therefore, in order for you or anyone else to commit the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, you would also have to also make the same claim as the Pharisees did. And I'm pretty sure that you haven't done that.

This is just another one of Satan's tricks by trying to convince you that you have done this in order to make you and others give up your faith in Christ. That fact that you are worried about tells me that the Spirit of God dwells in you and therefore have not committed this. That is unless of course you also believe that Jesus was casting out demons by the power of Satan. Otherwise, you have not committed the unpardonable sin. And that goes for everyone who is reading this who has been concerned about committing the unpardonable sin.

thank you for the help.. I posted this before but:

Well obviously as you stated in your post above that "I said I know Jesus is not a lie and he is the way the truth and the life," so you obviously don't believe what the Pharisees believed. Remember, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. You obviously have the fear of God in you and are concerned about this. Understand then that those thoughts are not yours and you can rest in God's promise of salvation. It's just an attack! Resist the devil and he will flee from you!

I would just keep renouncing those thoughts as being yours and continue to pray that the Lord would take them away. What is the goal here of those thoughts? It is to get you to believe that you have committed this unforgiveable sin and to turn away from Christ, right? So, don't buy into it. Understand what the purpose is and fight it off by continuing in God's word and in prayer. You have already confessed that you don't believe in those thoughts, so stop considering them as being yours.

I and I'm sure that others here will keep you in prayer regarding this issue.

PS If you are willfully engaging in the sinful nature at all, I would get that out of my life as well. The powers of darkness can use that nature as a foot-hold.

Whatever that is going on in your head here, I can assure you is not the unforgivable sin. If you reach that point, you're not thinking about God and Jesus, you are not worried about that anymore, you'd be thinking only of yourself. The people who have actually reached that point are thinking only of themselves. Really ios that simple, you're good bro. :D

The Pharisees weren’t the least bit upset or concerned they may have committed the unpardonable sin.

Think on that.

If you committed the unpardonable sin, you wouldn’t care one whit that you did. It wouldn’t bother you at all.

Also, I have heard several Pastors claim that because we haven’t physically seen Jesus perform miracles, we CANT perform the unpardonable sin today.

I believe the unpardonable sin today, is a final, and complete rejection of the Gospel and Jesus.

The enemy is delighting in tormenting you. Don’t give him the pleasure. Keep your mind, heart and eyes on Jesus.

Then to top it off.. more voices not all speaking the same. So just what is the "unpardonable sin"? No one here knows what it is..oh they have a good idea but.. its not written. Some would say its rejecting Jesus as lord.. the only sin that He can not forgive. What most would tell you is.. if you THINK you did it.. you didn't. Those that do never have any fear about never look back.

So clues... God has not given you the spirit of fear but of power love and a SOUND mind! So God would never use FEAR to talk to you. So all those FEARS flip it.. GOD never said it.. the enemy did. Right when GOD is moving in your life..when that word comes.. Satan is right there to take it from you and FEAR is used.

Your not lost, your in the Fathers hands.. He is never ever going to drop you. The WORK Christ started in you HE will finish. See walk by FIATH. No matter what you FEEL HEAR SEE walk by faith. Fear pops up.. NO I don't receive this God has not given me the spirit of fear.. I have the JOY Of the lord. Resist the enemy he will flee. You are washed in the BLOOD OF JESUS. Since you believe in Jesus in the Fathers eyes you are RIGHTEOUS HOLY.. because of what CHRIST did. All the enemy can do is LIE! That means .. something TRUE Is there.

You read Luke 11 13.. if JESUS said it.. then do it. Not what I say or any one else. If its written believe it. Holy Spirit.. what ever God gives to you He will never take it back. For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.... praying for you
