For any who do not understand how people were taught the Gospel in the Old Testament.

Gen 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
en 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
Note that Abraham's prophecy was not fulfilled for he espied a ram, not a Lamb.

Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

The Crucifixion Foretold in a Psalm

Psa 22:1 To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
Psa 22:2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
Psa 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Psa 22:4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
Psa 22:5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
Psa 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
Psa 22:7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
Psa 22:8 He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
Psa 22:9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
Psa 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
Psa 22:11 Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
Psa 22:12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
Psa 22:13 They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
Psa 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
Psa 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
Psa 22:17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
Psa 22:18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Psa 22:19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
Psa 22:20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
Psa 22:21 Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
Psa 22:22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
Psa 22:23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
Psa 22:24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
Psa 22:25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
Psa 22:26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
Psa 22:27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
Psa 22:28 For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.
Psa 22:29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
Psa 22:30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
Psa 22:31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Wow. That's really interesting. I hadn't ever caught that. What do you think it means?
Just means that the Lamb is pointed to by the ram. Why did God use a brass serpent to represent Jesus in the snake field? The object pointed to is what is of importance, yes?

Isaiah speaks of Jesus...

Isaiah
53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.
53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
53:8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.
53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
53:11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
53:12 Therefore will I divide him [a portion] with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

It meant to me that Abraham was prophesying the Lamb of God to cme. Especially impacting was the reflexive use of the ver . God will provide, HIMSLF, a Lamb. Because I believe God makes no errors, when Abraham saaw a ram caught in the thicket, the prophecy was not fulfilled in it.

Yes, and God has indeed provided Himself - - He Himself, The Lamb :)

Here is a very uplifting chore. Try reading Psalm 119 replacing the wood, WORD, the Jesus. After all, He is the Word.

There are only a couple of places it is a bit awkward, but all the others seem to make much more sense.. It could be must me.

I do not understand the Title.

There are FAR MORE than 3 times that Jesus is spoken of in Scripture. I know you know that......

My intention is to get folks to think about the OT as teaching of the Messiah.

Yes, I know many more references to our Savior, but they are quoted so much, and yet many have this inclination to overlook the meanings of them. So, Yes, all who will, by all means put your contributions to the understanding of just how the Law and the Prophets all point to Jesus-Yeshua.

This above should read "replacing the word, WORD." Sorry for another typo..

Sorry, but I would have to disagree with you. Probably more like 30, or 300.

If your reference is to the three examples of OT reference and indications of Jesus-Yeshua, you are not capturing the spirit of the post.
These three are simply three not mentioned often by many. The are intended to promote study of the OT.
If that is your point, please do not turn posts into your personal challenge............ I am shring here. God bless you, and keep seeking: I know I am.

The ram caught in the thicket by its horns and David's son, Absalom caught in the tree by his hair somehow seem connected. I'm not saying they are, but the picture reminds me the ram caught by its horns.

Absalom in Strongs = "My father is peace."

Well, conceptually, abstractly we can connect them somewhat. The ram isn't the lamb, but Absalom isn't the man of peace, his father is. Jesus is his father's son.

We can wind around the concepts and connect here and there. But, if that's the point, I don't know. I don't know if that is meant to be concluded or not.

You just blew my mind. This is so amazing. So . . . God will provide Himself as a Perfect, Pure, Lamb as a Holy Sacrifice for the sins of those whom the Lord would give to Himself, His Son. It's still a bit perplexing, though, as Jesus has always been known (to me) as the Pure Lamb of God. But, either way, the point is the same in that a substitute will be given . . . a Life to save a life.

I like what you're doing. I can learn things from you!

I have learned from you.
Well . . . how about that?! And this is my goal and wish, which is that we could all calmly talk to each other with open ears . . . and also share the things that we believe are right.

I mentioned you in my commentary notes, by the way. Thank you for being my latest addition! :D
