I have been told that going to a psychic is bad. I would like to get more insight in what God says about them. I do believe that there are some psychics with a gift and some who are genuinely trying to help people. I just wonder if it's bad to see them once in a while.

"This can bring cause of altering the mind and heart away from God. I leave it at that."

Acts 16

16 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a female slave who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.” 18 She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” At that moment the spirit left her.

Psychics, mediums and the such all deal with spiritual entities not sent by God. That leaves only one other sources for those spirits. And we clearly see in the above verse it was an evil spirit.

The notion that some want to do good is not any sort of defense against the legitimacy of psychics. That means nothing whatsoever.

Their powers are not from God. the word antichrist means in place of christ in greek

1 John 4:3
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Isaiah 8:19
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?

LEVITICUS 19:31
KJ21
“‘Regard not those who have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 18:9-14 says,

When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD; and because of these detestable things the LORD your God will drive them out before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.

Acts 19:18-19

Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing and disclosing their practices. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning them in the sight of all; and they counted up the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.

“These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.”

Correction from the Greek Grammar:

“These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you A way to be saved.”

Many in what is known as the New Age Movement sees all religions as "a way".

if you see any psychics just wave and smile and move on

Saul went to see the witch of Endor and got badly cursed trying to talk to a dead Samuel. Samuel wasnt pleased either from being woken up from his sleep.

Saul could have talked to God instead!

Humans have always put great faith in oracles.

My first reflex is to assume this is a troll question. But checking your post history I find you have a track record for posting genuine statements, so I'm going to play it straight and give you an honest answer.

I find it is often revealing to examine the motivation behind an action. In this case, why do people visit a psychic? To get information beyond what humans can normally access. (And make no mistake about it, there are real spirits and they do communicate with humans. There is real power and information to be had in this area.)

While I can understand why people who do not know God would want to seek some kind of information like that, for Christians it becomes a question of why are we seeking this information when we know God? If we are seeking information beyond what humans can normally access, and if God has not already given us this information, either we are not close enough to God or God does not think we need it.

For a Christian to try to get information from a psychic is like a kid getting a negative answer from daddy, so he runs to ask mommy.

ahhhh yes I see. I didn't know of all these things that I am reading. I used to go to psychics a lot when I faced uncertainty. They always had an answer for it and it did in some way became true. However, even when they provided an answer for me, in the back of mind I would say but ONLY God knows what's going to happen. I guess I would use it more as reassurance. Now that I know it's bad, I don't want to do it anymore. I don't want to upset or offend God, though sometimes I do get tempted to know about my future. I have to work on trusting and having faith in God now.

Yes, I should have talked to God first.
