Well Canada Day and the 4th of July in the states are now "history". They mean nothing to the Communists controlling North America.

The problem is that when the conservative Reform Party under Harper had a golden opportunity to really and truly y address the plight of Native Canadians they did absolutely nothing concrete. That would have included the issue of children in Catholic and Anglican schools and what happened (both positive and negative).

Each and every treaty should have been reviewed, the Indian Act should have been revised or abolished, new treaties should have been drawn up and an effort made to stop Indians from continuing to be wards of the Federal Government. Yet not a single federal government over the last 50-70 years has bothered to do anything substantial.

It is significant that even though the issue of mistreatment of Indian children has been around for decades, it happens to have popped up just now out of the blue (so to speak). Which means that there may be some foreign powers or individuals seeking to create racial tensions in Canada as they did in America last year.

The burning down of so many churches and the toppling of significant statues means that there is a Marxist/Communist agenda being promoted from outside. The fact that feckless Communist Justin Trudeau is running (ruining?) Canada at this time also has a bearing on this matter. But it all goes back to negligence on the part of "conservatives" who were as self-seeking as the Liberals. And now there is no conservative party just like the RINOs are basically useless.
Speaking of toppling statues.

Confederate Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson statues in Charlottesville officially removed.

A little googling will tell you the Canadian government took control of these "schools" in the late '60's.

A really sad revelation, but I wish people quit with the vandalism.

It was another one of those big public-private assimilationist endeavors. America had a bunch of similar programs helmed by churches and charitable organizations but focused more on our immigrant population than the American Indians.

Eleanor Roosevelt started her career doing this in New York.

Yes. The catholic church had a hand in it before the 60's

Has anyone seen what is going on in Canada. Native American (North American Indians) children were pulled out of their homes from the 1800s until the 1980s by the Catholic Church. They were given new names, and released into society. This way they didn’t receive their privileges from the treaty. Many were tortured and killed. They have recently uncovered mass graves of thousands of children. Only three schools out of hundreds have been investigated so far. Absolute genocide.
I live in Canada and it would be better if you checked out your data before you make such wild statements re torture & killed. Hyperbole does not help anyone in this situation. There were no mass graves. Those are graveyards with wooden grave markers and like some of the Indians have said the markers were destroyed by fire or just rot. They knew where the graves were and that the markers had been lost. What you get are some of them wanting to get more from the gov. and the politicians are jumping on the bandwagon to try and make points for the next election.

I agree that going to court is the “Canadian” way to handle it. If the government and church targeted my family for a century and deliberately attempted to wipe us out and strip us of our heritage and beliefs through torture and genocide, I wouldn’t feel very “Canadian”. Regardless, they are armed and angry. I don’t think a public apology and a lump sum of restitution quite heals the hurt.
I see you really like hyperbole. Why don't you tone it down a bit. What happened was, at the time thought to be in the best interest of the kids. You can not rewrite history but you should learn from it. Your over the top.

Some here like the blame catholics for anything and everything and I suppose some see this as justification for the church burnings. Ive read a bit about this and the Canadian government was a player in this from the beginning and took total control of it in the 1960's.

The government and the churchs should step up and deal with this. The biggest problem I see from up here is that our PM loves to virtue signal and the churches always run for cover. Our media is so over the top with this issue that it is hard to find the truth.

I know about zero facts on this subject. What I do know is CRT is being pushed here in the US and with Trudeau it's monkey see, monkey do. My young cousin wrote on FB that she was ashamed to be a Canadian on July 1 because of this issue. I sighed and rolled my eyes. Here we go again. She's a sweet girl but I wanted to write her and ask her what part did she take in it? She's not even old enough to remember 9/11 for pity sake. Everyone is so down, so sad, so ashamed. Stop it!!! Hold the gov't accountable, and the church. They had a direct hand in it? Ok, nail them to the wall. Stop with the drama, digging up history to make people mourn constantly for a past they had nothing to do with and cannot change. I'm so sick of this nonsense. My sweet cousin is one of those that are so gullible, and I hate to see that. Same as here in the US, I never owned a slave, I never took part in it, I disagree with it. But Biden and his butt kissers want me to feel guilty, to admit I'm racist and be ashamed of my "privilege". Nope, not even a bit do I feel any of that. Christians need to stop falling for this new humanistic religion radical leftists and globalists are pushing. It's utter nonsense.

I worked with a guy who said his grandmother was abducted into one of these residential schools. She told them all kinds of stories but they thought she was exaggerating. When all this came to light he said until then he didn’t care about his native heritage. He still didn’t care about it. He was thankful that all of a sudden he got native status and all the benefits that go along with it. I’m with you on this one. I don’t feel guilty personally. Nations conquer nations. If our ancestors did the same as they did in ancient days, they would have all been put to death, their male children castrated and females turned into slaves and concubines. There would not be the opportunity for future atrocities. It would be nice if we could all live happily but those days will just have to wait until Christ returns.

Well I was just looking at the history behind the Catholic Church
The crusades
The Inquisition
Helping Nazi war criminals escape Germany
Protecting child molesters
It's understandable the Canadians don't want them in their country

700 people isn't a genocide. It's nothing close to a genocide. Do you work for CNN?

Yeah originally I used the word genocide but I should have used the word mass murder instead
However you might want to look into how the Vatican was complicit in the Rwandan genocide
The children tried to hide in the churches and the priests turned them in

Check your facts. This over the top language will not help.

Interesting that both you and @Hungry both used the same language and take the same position on this. Hungry is intensely anti-Catholic and you're just anti-Christian. Both jumping on this issue with 100% certain conviction. Both inclined towards the same over the top language. Hungry should stop to consider who he's siding with on this.

You guys might be correct. It might be that the Catholics are bloodthirsty monsters, hell bent on murdering children. It also might be that there is another side of this story that we haven't heard yet. I highly suspect that whatever that other side of the story is would be very compelling. Why? Because the mainstream narrative on pretty much everything is generally wrong. Fake news. Fake news from decidedly anti-Christian sources.

You brought up a great point. Perhaps I let my bias towards a repeatedly proven corrupt religious organization cloud my judgment. After reading several articles on the matter I concluded, if there is any chance of innocence on there part, they are completely incompetent at proving it. They’ve already been charged and ordered to pay $25 million in restitution. Two years later they are still shy over $21 million. Admittedly genocide isn’t an accurate term.

The Catholic church is a criminal organization and it's time the rest of the world started fighting back
