I found a screenshot of the old format

Thanks and wow, that sure brings back memories! I had forgotten we could have an image other than our avatar displayed beside posts like that, and it was I believe, also different from our profile pic... I think we could hide our age, too, which I probably did, because I remember people being surprised when they found out how old I actually was ha ha, because it is, after all, not a secret LOL :giggle::D:giggle:

Hi Gandy.

We are well.

How is your family? Your wife has been on my mind since you shared about your sons friends mom passing (whom you said was a good friend of your wife). How is everyone?
We are all doing okay. I actually did a bit of panic buying because things was really bad here. In the East Coast people are now struggling to get food as a result of the looting but they are rebuilding. Maybe I was wrong but I said to my wife I do not want to go and stand in these long lines if I can avoid it.

My wife is doing okay, thank you GG. She still miss her bestie but she is getting there :) God is keeping her busy now in other ways and we are there for the children and their dad. God always have a plan with us. He is amazing :)

Yup, this was on the East Coast. I live in Central South Africa (Gauteng) but we also had incidents of looting (no so extreme)...

I like the idea of knowing whether they are male or female. I have guessed wrongly a couple of times
I also like the flag idea too (except if you dont recognise the flag. Maybe name of country would be better)
All this thinking is making me hungry

I could live on tasty donuts and coffee. :)
Yes, donuts and coffee is one of the simple pleasures in life. Simply delicious. :)

I don't have donuts that often. Coffee is another story. I have a cup each morning, if not then I'm no good for the rest of the day.

I'm speechless after watching the two videos.
My heart aches for these people. There's no way that the store can even hold enough groceries to feed these people lined up...no wonder why they started looting the supply warehouses...I get it. No jobs and no food makes people desperate. It robs them of hope. Even the police must be running low on hope at this point.

How does a society recover from this sort of madness and desperation?

I get that it's just basic food...it's fleeting and inexpensive for most of us...but for those people it's very expensive and almost impossible.

I'll be surprised if this doesn't hurt for decades to come.

And speaking of shortages....
Coffee is usually a surplus thing... usually only made expensive by "boutique" blending and roasting and packaging. It sells green for $1.50 or around 1£/lb. Roasted, packaged and boutique? Probably closer to $10-14/lb. Starbucks sells a cup of brewed coffee for $5-8 a cup that requires less than a ¼ lb of coffee. (Plus syrup and flavorings and dairy products)

But...for the first time ever... instead of a surplus of available coffee we are looking at a real shortage of the stuff.

Between the drought followed by a deluge which then has been followed up by more drought and freezing temperatures....the coffee harvest is in the bin this year...
Also Columbia Coffee is controlled by fascists. I'm not sure which is worse....the coffee consortium of Columbia or the drug Lords....it's almost a tie as to who is worse.
At either rate the country is still in chaos with UN monitors getting shot in the streets by police.

Just saying...ships are still wary and being extra slow about going to Columbia or picking up coffee when there.

In the meantime... expect it to become crazy expensive and difficult to find soon. If you must have it... better get it now because this winter it might not be available.
