Why repent? Well do we believe one must say "i repent?" Was the thief blessed since all he really had time to say was "remember me when....". We can go before the judge all we want and say sorry but all the judge is going to say is that debt has been paid. That sacrifice has already been offered..its over. No sin was covered...its gone.

I am guessing you really mean saved. I've heard stories.. take with a grain of salt where the person was dead.. doctors say they were dead and they say they were saved while there were dead. When this life is officially over I do not know. We tend to think its when the man says were dead. Its written we die then comes the judgment.

The rich man.. Jesus has not even died rose yet. So where did they go before Jesus died and rose? Jesus at that moment did not have the keys.

Can one repent at the Judgement or after death?

Hebrew 9:27 says death followed by Judgement. It does not say one can not repent after death.

So, what texts do say one can not repent after death?

You can not "believe on Jesus", after you die.
Why?
Because after you die, you will have evidence with your eyes......First Hell, then the White Throne Judgement, then the Lake of Fire.
You will SEE all this......... and that is not FAITH.

God requires FAITH in Christ.
So, you have to have that, on earth, based on hearing the Gospel.

After you are dead you wont need faith, as you will SEE the result of your Christ Rejection.

"faith comes by HEARING".........and after you die and you SEE what is happening, there will be no option to have faith, as you will SEE IT happening to you.

It is not possible to repent of sins after a person dies physically.

The Bible says that in the flesh dwells no good thing, and the Spirit and flesh are contrary to each other for sin resides in the flesh.

A person can only repent of their sins while in the flesh.

Once a person dies physically that is unforgiven on earth there is nowhere to put the sin so it stays with them forever and their soul is tainted.

That is why the fallen angels cannot be redeemed because they are one being with nowhere to put the sin so when they sinned they tainted their whole body with no reversal.

All spirits go back to God who gave them no matter how the person acted and they put off the flesh so those unforgiven are a soul which is one being with nowhere to put off the sin like the angels are one being with nowhere to put off the sin.

A human is soul and body and the sin is in the body so when a person receives forgiveness then their soul is not tainted and can live forever with God.

However a person dies forgiven or unforgiven that is how they will stay forever.

An interesting model on Hades as "the green mile" to the lake of fire. It is similar to the Roman Catholic perspective, except your model claims that venial sins are unforgiven (e.g. a man yells angrily at his neighbour and then dies of a heart attack before having the chance to repent). RCC breaks down venial vs mortal sins and then claims that mortal sins are unforgiveable after death (but venial sins land you in purgatory).

Whether you take the hardline of "all unrepented sins are unforgiveable after death" or break it down into categories of venial and mortal sins, there is still the problem that we all regain our physical bodies in the ressurection at the Judgement. If a physical body is required for repenting sin, in your view, what stops someone from doing so at the Judgement?

In Hades, the rich man wasn't given any guarantee of any chance of salvation. For the rich man it would require a leap of faith to turn to Christ. What is stopping the opportunity for the leap of faith?

Where is faith, then? Once you know the truth without question because you are actually standing before God, you will be judged for what you did in your life... when you were alive. If you rejected Christ, the judgement is death.

Well, a few things..

One, is that there was no Cross of Christ.
Also, the Holy Spirit does not convict dead people in Hades/Hell, of their sin. He only performs this "drawing all men" on Earth where the living can hear the Gospel and believe.
There is no Gospel being preached in Hell.
They are beyond this offer.

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;" - 1 Peter 3:18-19 KJV

"For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit." - 1 Peter 4:6 KJV

Scripture speaks of the gospel being preached to the dead. This could be interpreted as a one-time event, but could also be interpreted as something that is ongoing or possible to reoccur.

If someone does not want to be with Jesus when they are alive, why would they want to be with Him after they die?

"

.

Notice "according to men in the flesh"......so, there is the context.
Its the contrast.

Now who are the "dead" , that would be given the "Gospel", so that "faith comes by hearing"?
Can this be those who died as Christ rejectors and are waiting for "the Great White Throne" Rev 20:11, because their "name is not found in the Lamb's book of Life"?

A.) No.

So then, who are the "dead" that would need to HEAR : "the preaching of the Cross"?

Go to Genesis.
Find Adam.
Read.....>"you shall surely die".
This is, "spiritual separation" from God's Spirit.

This is to be "dead"....
And this is all of us until we hear the Gospel, and "faith comes by HEARING", and God accepts our faith as "faith is counted as Righteousness", and we are BORN AGAIN into the Spirit of God, by the Spirit of God.

See that "dead" being made "ALIVE" "In Christ" by Christ who is THE LIFE and THE Resurrection, and who is also ETERNAL LIFE?

You can't get all that in Hell.
You can only receive it on Earth by believing in Christ.., or you will go to Hell after you die.

See, "Justification by FAITH"< can't happen after you die.

Yes.
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Rev 22:11 (KJV)

Example 1: someone that was born and died before Jesus (such as Abraham).
Example 2: someone that lived and died in an isolated community that had never heard of Christ.
Example 3: someone that struggled with Christian identity

This is the same word for "death" that is used to describe Jesus' resurrection from the dead. You could interpret the 1 Peter 4:6 instance to be a metaphor that describes spiritual death, and it would be consistent with scripture, but you could also interpret this with 1 Peter 3:18-19 as an example where Christ "preached to those in prison" meaning those in Hades, Sheol, the Sea, etc. Either interpretation is consistent with scripture but it would be incorrect to use this to conclude that the opportunity for salvation ends at bodily death.

The interpretation of salvation after bodily death resolves questions such as "What happened to those that died before Christ?" Abraham is an example of someone that saw Christ despite dying centuries before. If you believe that salvation cannot be attained after death, how was Abraham saved by Christ?

You can't get all that in Hell.
You can only receive it on Earth by believing in Christ.., or you will go to Hell after you die.

I assume you are talking about the Lake of Fire (not Hades)? I have not seen any scripture which expresses the position that the opportunity for salvation ends at bodily death. It's fine to interpret that bodily death disqualifies someone from attaining salvation, but if this is explicit in scripture where in scripture is it?

And that verse continue

If the gospel was preached to the dead from Noah's flood, how do we know this couldn't happen again to the dead from modern times?

I never read about gospel being preach for the dead during modern time on the Bible
What I remember read is once die and face judgement
The idea of second chance is danger because encourage crime
I am poor let rob the bank now and repent when I die.
