Hello from Finland.

I am born Evangelical Lutheran, but as many other Finns, most belong to church (the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland - which is a state religion) but never really practice their faith or go to church, my family was also as such. We went to church for christenings, weddings or funerals and things considering religion/faith was rarely spoken at home. In Finland we have a religion classes at school and we went to church on special occasions like for christmas, so thats how I got my religious education. At age 15 I was confirmed as it is custom in Finland, but soon after started to look elsewhere for answers to my questions and found my way to eastern ideologies. Was practicing buddhist for some years, moved to different country because of it, so did it quite seriously but then several things happened, some that I still dont understand to this day and I drifted away. Moved back to Finland and started to search for my roots again.

After this, in sequence of several years, I lost my both parents and found myself having more and more questions. Started searching and trying to find answers from christianity by studying, learning, finding.. feeling relief occasionally and maybe slowly thinking that I am coming home. Also seeing that maybe the things that have happened in my life, have been there for a reason, so that at this day I can be the person I am, and still ever changing, evolving as my understanding and thirst for more grows (hopefully). So I am on a mission of finding and searching and also happy to find this forum so I can speak with likeminded people, to openly talk about christianity and ask questions.

Hahaha, yet another new member with a very familier story, that a lot of new nicks seem to have. Almost like the great awakening. Welcome, I assume you will disagree with my takes on various threads, and tell me about family and cats. Or you could make a thread about Buddhism if you will, seeing as we have the same lifestory about becoming buddhists, after being atheists, then becoming christians again. What am I supposed to do? Report? Not doing that, have fun.

We have had a couple of recently joined members from Finland and always room for one more. I am sure that you will find quite a few of like-minded people to talk openly about Christianity. Of course, few free to ask any questions that you want. Glad to have you as part of our community. Welcome to CC.

Welcome Ladrosify. I was born in England, so "Christian" by default. To me it was just irrelevant history. I went through a terrible time at the age of 20. It was then I heard the gospel and I received Christ. That was 50 years ago. I can't imagine being without Jesus now. I have a relationship with God through Jesus, I have new life and I'll be glad to answer any questions that you may have.

Greetings and Welcome to Christian Chat, Ladrosify,

From the time I came to Christ, people would ask what denomination I belonged to, Methodist, Baptist, Lutheran, etc. My attitude is/was "Is Christ divided?" There should be no divisions at all. For we are not saved by what denomination we belong to, but through faith in Christ who shed His blood for us for the forgiveness of sins. My answer to them is that I am a believer in Christ. Those other things just cause division and we certainly have more than enough of that, even here on this site.

Aside from that, you will find good people and fellowship here and will learn many truths regarding God's word. The best way to know the truth is to do your personal studies and to search the scriptures regarding what others are saying, so that you can know whether someone is speaking the truth or not.

Again, Welcome!

Thanks and lol. I should read first to see if I agree or disagree, but even then, good conversation is the point, not agreeing or disagreeing. The richness in life is to see and understand others point of view, in my opinion that is. But if I must, can I write about dogs? :)

This is my point of view too. I am do not like to argue about who is right and who is wrong, what denomination is the right one or that catholics this and protestants that. Having several denominations is richness and being able to learn about something from someone for me is far more meaningful than telling them about how wrong they are :)

Sure, what are dogs? Why are they important? Should we get black, white or spotted dogs? pros and cons. Months coming is winter, so obviously said dog needs to hide in the snow, and not get noticed by killerbirds, while barking like a fool. Or something like that. In reality, converted to cats, getting a cat next week or tomorrow, white or shades in the right colours. Write about your doggy😉

So nice to meet you Ladrosify and welcome to CC:) I totally agree that communicating with others esp with different cultures is more productive than turning a cold shoulder. Btw, there is a Misc Forum where a Thread about dogs would be welcome, at least by most of us:D God bless and keep you always!
