Who do you think the two witnesses will be? I’ll begin. ;)

First lets go to Matthew 17, to the mount of transfiguration:

Matthew 17:1-3

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them MOSES and ELIAS (Elijah) talking with him.

MOSES = Law giver, Representing the Law.
ELIAS (Elijah) = The Prophets.

Revelation 11:3-5

3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks STANDING BEFORE THE GOD of the earth.

5 And if any man will hurt them, FIRE PROCEEDETH OUT OF THEIR MOUTH, AND DEVOURETH THEIR ENEMIES: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

2 Kings 1:10-12

10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, “If I be a man of God, then LET FIRE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, and consume thee and thy fifty.” And there CAME DOWN FIRE FROM HEAVEN, and consumed him and his fifty.

11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, "O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly."

12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, "If I be a man of God, LET FIRE COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, and consume thee and thy fifty." And the FIRE OF GOD CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN, and consumed him and his fifty.

So we see that Elijah had the same powers as the two witnesses.

Revelation 11:6-9

6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: (the sign of Elijah)and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. (the powers that Moses used in Egypt)

7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

Psalms 79:2-3

2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

Revelation 11:11

11 And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Now we’ll go to Zechariah 4:11-14

Zechariah 4:11-14

11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

12 And I answered again, and said unto him, "What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?"

13 And he answered me and said, "Knowest thou not what these be?" And I said, "No, my lord."

14 Then said he, "These are the TWO ANOINTED ONES, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth."

So I think that most likely the two witnesses will be Elijah and Moses. :) What say you?

agree completely and the scriptures presented are how I reached the same conclusion!!

I feel that Moses represents the law which witnesses of Christ , and Elijah represents the prophets who all witnesses of Christ. Which is what I see here

“MOSES = Law giver, Representing the Law.
ELIAS (Elijah) = The Prophets.”

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:18-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I believe the two witnesses are the law represented by the person and figure of Moses , and prophets represented by the person and figure of Elijah.

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭

and when we see them taken up after three and a half days , it’s showing the Old Testament being taken up because the gospel had come forth in Christ. Just after they are taken up we see this announcement

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭11:15, 18-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Your estimation is right on target. Definitely agree with Elijah. Still considering Moses.

I believe it will be Moses and Elijah too for they did appear with Jesus at the transfiguration as if they are Jesus' right hand men, and were both great men of God.

Also Jesus said John the Baptist came in the spirit of Elijah so his power was still working among the Jews through John.

If Moses is not one of them the only other one I can think who it would be would be Enoch but he was before the 10 commandments and the covenant with Israel so it seems like it would not be him.

Zec 4:11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Moses and Elijah were with Jesus and the 2 witnesses would not be angels, and they cannot be men that are in Israel but have not died yet for how would they stand before the Lord of all the earth.

And Moses and Elijah did miracles while on earth.

And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

IMHO - Definitely Elijah but not going with Moses here.

The Two Witnesses, imho, are Two Faithful Witnesses from the OT who walked with God and who escaped death.
The only Two, that is recorded/written, are Enoch and Elijah.
Hebrews 9: 27 says "Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment,"
Perhaps the reason for God taking them was for another day to die according to the Law of God - all have sinned,
therefore all must die.

The Scripture declares that God will send Elijah before the Great and Terrible Day of the Lord come.
The Great Day came with John the Baptist in the spirit of Elijah fulfilling prophesy - the Great Day - First Coming.
The Terrible Day of the Lord is Coming for this which is His Second Coming - so now the actual Elijah who had to face Jezebel but ran.
Now Elijah, once again faces the Harlot in Revelation.

Who kills the Two Witnesses in Revelation = the beast that comes up from the Abyss.

This speaks loudly, imho, of Enoch - Jesus said as in the Days of Noah = fallen angels with whom Enoch faced and knew.

"And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
"To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches, which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." Jude 1:14-15

Well that's just imho base on Perhaps - peace

Elijah and Enoch is my choice. Since Moses died the scriptures withdraws the choice of Moses.

Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment,

It has been postulated that one of the witnesses could be the return of Enoch (since he also never died);

and/or the apostle John (since, after he ate the book that was given to him by the angel, it was said to him that he must prophesy again about many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings; and the account of the two witness immediately follows this testimony in the book of Revelation).

And it is also possible concerning John that he never died (see John 21:23).

amen they did the same miracles the two witnesses have power to do Moses turned water to blood , and sent plagues on Egypt , and Elijah caused it to not rain for three and a half years and pulled fire from heaven destroying his enemies

there’s also a direct reference to the transfiguration pointing to the prophecy of zechariah , in johns revelation , which you’ll see above in This very comprehensive and convincing op here by sister saltwatergirl .

that is a direct quote of what zechariah saw. Two anointed ones standing with the lord of the earth being represented in zechariahs vision as two olive trees and two candlesticks with golden anointing oil pouring out of themselves.

again pointing to the laws annointing oil , which the prophets were later anointed with

However, the false prophet is going to have powers similar to that of Elijah; as he will cause fire to come down on the earth in the sight of men; and will deceive many through the working of this miracle..

The fact of the matter is that we don't know who they will be.

But I do see four candidates.

Moses, Elijah, Enoch, and John.

i thought about John but the scripture did not say that he would not die - it was a rumor
Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. However, Jesus did not say that he would not die

NOTE: It would be torture to stay on this sin filled earth for that long when it is far better to be with the Lord.

It is settled on the matter of whether it is Moses or not for Moses just visited me and informed me that he is one of the witnesses, and also said to tell you guys to stop fighting with each other over this Enoch deal, and I gave him a big sir, yes sir, Marine style.

Alright I am kidding but I just wanted to know how it felt to be delusional and something special for a minute.

To tell the truth I did not like it so back to my normal Christian life.

Just a thought:
What was greater? walking with the Lord as Enoch and Abraham before the Law or after the Law with Moses and Elijah???
Did man have greater knowledge and understanding of God before the Law - Melchesidek King of Salem who blessed Abraham

Just a thought:
What was greater? walking with the Lord as Enoch and Abraham before the Law or after the Law with Moses and Elijah???
Did man have greater knowledge and understanding of God before the Law - Melchesidek King of Salem who blessed Abraham
it’s about those who the lord gave witness of Christ . Moses was the chosen witness who spoke all the law to the people he came to God alone in the cloud and received the testimony and was given as a witness for the people.

personally I don’t think there are going to be two men , I believe the two witnesses are the law and prophets. Represe yes by Moses the giver of the law which is one witness in earth of Christ.

And Elijah king of the prophets who are another witness of Christ in the earth. There is never a scripture ( that I’m aware of myself ) saying Enoch is a witness of Christ . Which you know my position about scripture confirming the meaning of scripture

I believe the law ( represented by Moses ) and the prophets ( represented by Elijah ) are the two witnesses of Jesus Christ

“Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭24:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:44‬ ‭

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I believe there is a witness of Christ in the law of Moses , and in the prophets after him. I don’t believe that on the future two Men are going to appear I believe revelation is an apocalypse not a literal Book is what’s left me to that conclusion

but I could Be wrong as anyone can be I just see massive evidence for the two witnesses being the law and prophets

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the scriptures at that point would be the law and prophets

Moses had something to witness about the lord that no others had

“And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭34:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬
me thinks, imho, maybe Enoch a little higher on the payscale - he did a lot of talking with angels and he did a lot of walkin with God and next thing you know - he's gone just like that - for God took Him - cannot get any better then that.

it’s about those who the lord gave witness of Christ .

Moses is limited to the children of Israel - Enoch dealt with angels, who are superior to us, and he walked with God.
me thinks Enoch has a the edge over the Guy with the Big Stick that splits water but not death.
Always having fun with you brother - peace and blessing
