This is another good teaching of Brother Ed's, dealing with the Doctrine of the Christian Walk and progressive Sanctification. In this teaching, the focus is on the fact that Christian growth, change and transformation are all volitional in the life of the born again child of God. It is not automatic like the Calvinists wrongly teach. We only grow as we read, study and obey the word of God. When we keep the words of Jesus Christ, follow Him and abide in Him, this is how we then grow, mature and manifest a transformation and a wonderful change that we all should want and desire. Nevertheless though, if a Christian does not abide in Christ, and resists the Holy Spirit, then that Christian is capable of returning back to their old life they lived before they got saved. And get to a point where they become spiritually blind and forget they are even saved. And therefore, not live a changed life.

Verse 10, however, makes it clear that a person who does not repent is in danger of
"falling."

10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

This falling can mean "falling from grace" can it not? If so, then this professed believer is not a believer walking in Gods grace, and isn't it such as these that will be a part of:

THE GREAT FALLING AWAY.......???

I offer to you some explanation based on what I have read in the scriptures and a Strong's concordance of Greek words.

The word for "falling away" in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 means apostasy. The word for "fall" in 2 Peter 1:10 means to stumble, fall, err, sin, or transgress.

While sin may be involved in apostasy, one does not automatically imply the other because even Christians can sin without committing apostasy. I hope that helps clear it up a bit.

yea false doctrine is killing the church once you become convinced your chosen and nothing you do applies your saved already ect it’s really explaining that we shouldn’t believe Gods word telling us what to repent of and how to grow up and mature

it’s terrible that so many have fallen for the hyper Grace doctrine but to humans an effortless salvstion requiring no change or commitment from them sounds pretty appealing “ I can live as I will for my own desires and im saved forever “ sinners love the idea of freedom to continue on in sin , but Christians love the idea of being redeemed from sin and death

Your focus should be on the preceding six verses since that is the meat of what Peter was teaching.

Also, 2 Peter 1:10 shows that a believer can indeed live a changed life.

What do we do with these verses?

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10

For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Hebrews 10:14

According to your post you are stating that sanctification comes through reading and studying, while I agree that you can defintely grow and mature in Christ by doing this. But we are not sanctified by these actions, we are sanctified through the offering of Jesus ONCE FOR ALL, you are not sanctified more and more everyday.

Sanctified: I make holy, treat as holy, set apart as holy, sanctify, hallow, purify.

You are completely and fully set aside to God and made Holy once for all through the offering of the body of Jesus!

If you believe you are a sinner then you will act out what you believe. I encourage everyone to believe in who Christ made them to be, HOLY.

There is positional sanctification which we receive the moment we become born again. It is Jesus' righteousness and it makes us set apart and holy in God's eyes.
Then there is progressive sanctification which we achieve through the Holy Spirit teaching us how to live out the word of God!

Ok, where is that term in the bible? (Progressive sanctification)

I am 100% for growing in the knowledge of Jesus, no doubt. But, every person that is saved on this planet is as close to God as they will ever be, and that truth is plain in scripture. I believe that we are perfect, sanctified/holy, complete, Forgiven once for all time, and every Christian is JUST LIKE JESUS. Wow, what an amazing truth.

Works do not define sanctification, because sanctification/holiness is not about doing, its about your being! Its who you are, not what you do. Im not trying to argue, I just want to throw some thoughts out here for people to ponder. I used to believe in progressive sanctification and hated when someone would tell me any different so Im not bashing you brother or sister I believe you love the Lord and have good intentions, as I do as well.

A lot of people are talking about the falling away in 2 Thessalonians thinking it means the Church and great apostacy.

But it is not the Church but the falling away is the condition of the world in response to the Gospel for they stopped the preaching of the Gospel on a world wide level when the nations came together in favor of the new age movement interpretation of religion based on the occult and evolution.

This allows the man of sin to be able to rule over the world to deceive all people to follow him that do not love God.

As long as one nation allows the Gospel to be preached there would never be the falling away for there is hope that people can be saved.

But the nations came together as one for a one world government and stopped the preaching of the Gospel world wide making it a hate crime to teach anything other than the new age movement and they are still evolving to be spiritual and there is no personal God.

This will be the time that they will not endure sound doctrine of the Bible but want to hear it according to their own lusts the new age movement for all religions are interpreted according to evolution and they are still evolving.

The man of sin will establish peace in the Middle East and then push the agenda of the new age movement in the world until the world rebels against the truth.

During the time that they will not allow anything to be preached but the new age movement Islam rebels against the world which after that war God said the world still will not repent of their sins and turn to Him so He gives them the man of sin to rule over them.

The falling away took the hope of the world away for all nations came together and stopped the preaching of the Gospel and not one nation allowed the preaching of the Gospel so it allows the man of sin to rule over them to deceive the world to follow him.

Preaching can still go on but they run the risk of being caught but they have to preach but not too many people will listen during that time for the New Age Christ will be the biggest player on the world scene and be a great man of peace although a false peace for it is a deception of Satan and the man of sin by peace shall destroy many and the vast majority will follow him.

Definition of apostasy

1: an act of refusing to continue to follow, obey, or recognize a religious faith

Apostasy is PURE SIN, as is "falling away" from ones first love/faith.........

Jesus was clear that in the end times many would "fall away" abandon their faith, and this ties in with what He said about "those who endure till then end will be saved." IMO

A while back apostasy for a disciple of Jesus Yeshua was when a professing believer replaces the teaching of God with anything other, i.e. speaking in place of the Father without without His teaching rather a doctrine made up by another.

Yes brother, Amen. Absolutely, we are perfect, Holy, sanctified, complete and set apart Positionally. and we are indeed as righteous and as perfect as Jesus Christ and His word (the King James Bible) is. This is true about our Standing (Position).



The King James Bible does teach progressive Sanctification. This concerns our Walk (State). Our State changes from day to day and can change at any moment. Paul told the Saints at Thessalonica that his will for them was their Sanctification. And we know that he was dealing with progressive sanctification because right after that, he went on to say that ye should abstain from fornication. That implies a process of holy living, brother. If a Christian commits Fornication, is he still holy and sanctified? Is he still a saint? Yes, of course he is. According to his POSITION (STANDING), he is. However though, he has contaminated his State and Walk, and therefore he needs to confess his sins and repent of his fornication, in order to get back in right fellowship with his Heavenly Father.

It is. that is the context, which is why Peter went on to say ... "but he that lacketh these things (the things just mentioned in the previous verse), is blind and cannot see afar off and hath forgotten that he was once purged from his old sins. Yes, Context is king. When we read verses in their context, we are allowing the Blessed King James Holy Bible to interpret itself and to define its own terms.

There’s also the aspect of what happens if we refuse to repent and keep sinning even if we’re telling everyone we’re righteous and perfect eventually we have to confront that reality

“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.”

Gods words are true even when we don’t like the sound of them salvstion is true but so is damnation

eventually us saying we’re righteous and perfect and stuff needs to come to fruition we have to eventually bear the fruit

otherwise we have the other side of Gods word the warnings about sin and are deceiving our own self saying I’m righteous I’m righteous

Free Grace Theology is the Truth of the King James Bible, sir. Salvation is not of any of our effort, sir. It is all completed and finished by the perfect finished work of our Blessed Lord Jesus Christ. Can a person live as they please and any way they want to after they are saved?? Yes they can, because they have the free will to do so. Now but can they get away with it???? No. They cannot get away with it. God and His word (King James Bible) are very clear. He that soweth to the flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption. Very clear. The consequences of sin are grave. But once a person is saved, they can never be lost. they can never lose their salvation.
