What I do is take the Scripture as it is, and I try not to make assumptions or unwarranted conclusions about what it does not say.

1 Peter 5:8 says "the devil" (singular) prowls around, looking for someone to devour." That says to me that it is discussing one, the devil, who in and of himself only is doing this "prowling". The verse doesn't mention demons, and it doesn't say anything about the activity of demons, whether they do similarly or not.

Once we establish and agree on what the text actually says, then we can discuss what it might mean.
ok I don't think we are going to discuss when you can't even agree that this scripture 1 Peter 5:8 is referring to more than one demon.

that might work in the jungle but it's a bit more complex with a energy vampire who sucks all the energy out of you mentality and physically. After none stop abuse every minute of the day 24/7 7 days a week,.I don't suppose you've experience that, or even contemplated what a energy vampire is..
Being abused is a main cause of being demonized. I know all about demons. I've gone through much deliverance in my past. Have you ever read a book called, "They Shall Expel Demons" by Derek Prince?

This is definitely not a "me" problem.

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Usage lesson: "devil" is not "demon". The words are not the same, and don't refer to the same thing.

Grammar lesson:

The noun "enemy" is singular, which means there is only one.

The noun "devil" is singular, which means there is only one.

The verb "prowls" refers to a singular noun, which means there is only one.

Again, when you want to discuss what the Scripture actually says, let me know. Until then, you are only wasting your time and energy.

the open sentence of 1 Peter 5:8 says be alert your enemy the devil is walking around looking for someone to devour.

Then it says many people are suffering the same suffering all over the world,. So if we take the first sentence to mean there is only one devil at play here, then how come many people are suffering the same suffering all over the world.

I stopped reading right "there." I am 100% confident that if you were sitting directly across from me, you'd never say that.

Good luck.
I hope so too. I would rather only say you have much to learn once.

How do you know I don't have a gift ? In this field.

Your gift is manufacturing teachings that have no foundation.

As for your gift, I just have to be honest and say that I do not respect your teachings. I respect you as a person, but this thread has been very disturbing.

some people believe you only need deliverance once, I find that hard to believe when the gospel of Jesus teaches you need deliverance every day.

Demonization comes in many forms, the main demonization in this place comes from people who have no idea they are being oppressed and take part in discussions puffed up with pride and full of I know better than you, spewing verbual nonsense out, rant after rant. Never backing down and just debating all the time with many insults. A devils favourite trick is to alway deceive and get away with tricking and attacking somebody through somebody else.

Anyway I've had enough skeptical nonsence for one night I'm of. Gby.

have you ever thought you could be wrong about that. Or even questioned about your point of view here.

So many times I hear this approach come up and even from mature Christians, none of you probably have much experience about what the power of death and an evil spirit can do to a fragile human mind over time. Because if you did I don't think you would be so quick to blame a person for there own actions. Honestly. You need to ask the question if the power of death held by Satan a evil demonic being that can destroy the spirit of all mankind that was created by God. Then can the power of death cause a person to go wrong. Please 🙏
You're right, I have absolutely no clue what you mean about "the power of death and evil..." But, as a combat Vet, who hails from a long line of Vets, has lived on the wrong side of every major city in these US, has been within an inch of death twice and has actually died once... I can tell you with absolute certainty that evil only thrives in the ABSENCE OF CHRIST. I've never met the Devil, only disgusting, twisted, and wretchedly hateful men who glory in their own murderous ideology and bloody profits. Liars and haters of God's Truth outnumber any demons on this planet 1M/1 and have made themselves a clear and present threat just as the Bible has prophesied. Quit glorifying the Devil... his day has not yet come.

Wow. That was heavy. First off, if I've ever caused you to feel disrespect, I am duly sorry. Please accept my apologies. I say this because I deeply respect and value those who have laid down their life so that I could live my life as I do.

Thank you, THANK YOU, T H A H K Y O U!!!

1 Peter 5:9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

In other words, "your suffering is not unique, so don't be discouraged". It is not stating that all the suffering is directly caused by the devil.

Lucifer the cherub has many titles:
"satan" (ho satanas) means "the accuser". It's a title given to one person.
"the devil" (ho diabolos) means "the slanderer". It's a title given to one person.
"satan" and "the devil" are titles of the Cherub (Lucifer), not a kind of being.
He is given these titles because he accuses and slanders the people of God, day and night (Rev 12:10).
Demons, however, are a kind of being.

But nowhere in Scripture is Satan called a demon. He is "the ruler of the demons" (Mk 3:22)

he “is called the Devil and Satan” (Revelation 12:9)

called (kaleo) = "identified by name or surname" (BDAG lexicon)

Satan is an angel. Demons are the spirits of deceased Nephilim.

Hello son from Anacortes. Do you believe that Peter was "Satan" in any sense of the word? Was he being evil? Was Peter the Devil incarnate? If not, did Peter sin somehow?

This doesn't negate anything I've said.
But to answer your question, no, because Jesus didn't use the title "ho satanas" for Peter.
"seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter" (Mark 8:33)
You may contemplate what you think Jesus meant. But who Jesus rebuked is not debatable because Mark wrote that it was Peter whom Jesus rebuked.

Here's a thought to consider which is consistent with the passage's context... Jesus identified Satan as the source of Peter’s thoughts, just as He identified the Father as the source of Peter's thoughts in his statement a few verses before
("You are the Christ, the Son of the living God"...flesh and blood didn't reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven).
Likewise, Satan revealed thoughts to Peter that led him to rebuke Jesus because he was setting his mind on the interests of man and not God.

I wasn't trying to negate anything you said. You're in debate mode. I was asking of your genuine opinion about Matthew 16:23. My mistake is that that's what I thought this thread was about. It isn't. That's why what I wrote probably sounded off-track a bit.

Sorry dude. :)
