Please consider and pray about the question presented in this topic.

Then answer the question in good faith and with a good conscience.

I distance myself from politics. I am not registered to vote. Jesus is Lord and he rules over all at all times. All people should serve him.

Politics is just another cause for division and it diverts many from the truth.

Can you stay away from politics and point others to the Christ who is the one in charge?

In a democracy, Christians have an obligation to actively participate as we are called to be good stewards of the gifts given to us. That would be like King David saying, "I don't want to get involved in politics, I'm just going to stay out of it," and letting the country fall apart as a result. Maybe politics is so divisive because Spirit-filled followers of Christ have abandoned the sphere?

Politics dictate much of our daily lives. We ignore them to our own harm.

I walked away from national and much of state politics in the late 90's. I refused to be part of the "lesser of two evils" hypocrisy. In the spirit of "Let your 'yes' be 'yes' and your 'no' be 'no'" I found I could only vote for someone I know and for initiatives I can read. Therefore, I can and do take part in local politics.

I don't ignore national or global politics. In fact, since my conviction to only vote for those I know my interest for national and global politics has increased. The U.S. political machine is interesting in that one can discern a lot about the hearts of the church by their choices.

They don't have an obligation, but they have the right.

Politics has penetrated to an unimaginable level in our life,It has been difficult for most to stay away from the influence of politics.
People have been blinded by politics.

Politics is spreading hatred.
Politics tells you who is your enemy and what is justice.

Then you get used to politics and forget who Christ is and what Christ is.

Proverbs 6:6-19 I think this is a good description of ugly politics.

Ye have heard that politics hath been said, hate thine enemy.

Matthew 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

You need to compare The words of Christ to find out the problem of politics.

Proverbs 20:22
Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

20:23
Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

20:24
Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

I myself stay out of politics, but I won't judge my brother from doing so. There can still be some good done in local politics, maybe state as well.

We should not walk away from the issues. It matters the we follow Jesus and deal with the issues as he directs. Worldly politics is powerless to overcome evil.

The thing is, if they are true christians, God will let them know to be involved or not. We shouldn't immediately make up our minds because of the times we live in.
We should be led by the Spirit of the Lord in everything we do.

It is absolutely true that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. This is why I do not vote. Love the sinners hate the sin though.

Luk 19:12 He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Luk 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
Luk 19:14 But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
Luk 19:15 And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
Luk 19:16 Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
Luk 19:17 And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Luk 19:18 And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
Luk 19:19 And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
Luk 19:20 And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
Luk 19:21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
Luk 19:22 And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
Luk 19:23 Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
Luk 19:24 And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
Luk 19:25 (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
Luk 19:26 For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.
Luk 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

No, we will tell them about how their polity is going to be put to the Sword by Jesus unless they acknowledge all their society's ways have been deadly wrong and acknowledge that powerful and just is the God that judges them.

I don't believe lack of political involvement is an option for serious Christians. Bible says Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of lords. In modern parlance, that means, King of Presidents and Lord of Prime Ministers. Christians should be actively involved in politics to promote the Kingship of Jesus Christ Our Lord, laws that are in harmony with God's Law, on abortion, marriage etc. Change may take time, but by God's Grace, I believe it will come on these crucial issues. Slavery was once widely seen as moral and just for a long time. Today, killing children is seen as such. As we pray and work, and use our vote and our activism to support good and righteous leaders, we can hope that the Good Lord will change the situation once again. People should wake up to see we become evil without God as King.

Beckie, what does this passage mean to you? Also, was the bolded portion intentional? If so, what point are you trying to make?

The world would be a much better pace today if Trump hadn't been cheated out of his second term. If you disagree with that, well, I don't want to hear about it.

Absolutely well said!! Great point. We as Christians need to be involved while we are still here to make a change.
