I work remotely. I sometimes push millions of polygons around on a workstation 350 miles from me. So, I need a reliable, strong, steady, internet connection.

Which I don't have.

I use Cox Cable, which has stunk since the day I started the service here in Mesa, AZ. I experience frequent dropouts, disconnections, interruptions, both in TV and internet connection. Once I needed to work 2.5 hrs of unpaid OT just to make up for the lost time.

For my livelihood alone, never mind my sanity, I need a reliable service. Please pray that God provides one.

I have dealt with Cox in Tucson ....your right, not great....extremally frustrating.
Switched to Xfinity .....worked so much better....but, you may not have to option..... you have my prayers

Thank you Artios. Xfinity's not available in my neighborhood. I tried. Neither is Mediacom, Desert iNet, Bluenet (I think that's the name) or Starlink (2023 I could sign up... no thanks).

I used to have Spectrum, Adelphia, and Roadrunner, and never had these kinds of problems.

Thanks for the prayers. Going to give CenturyLink a try. I have not read great reviews on them either, but they are supposedly somewhat better.

Depending on the quality of the data connection to the local cellular towers, it might be better to just get something like a wireless hotspot. Verizon offers something called a MiFi device and it’s just a wireless Internet connection.

I’ve used MiFis many times and they are normally quite reliable and sufficiently fast to do basic Internet browsing.

I couldn’t recommend them for online gaming, but they should be okay to watch videos on YouTube, for example.

You might want to confirm that you have a good cellular data signal where you are before trying this.

I've thought of that, but my phone and computer will not link up. I've been unable to determine why. Secondly, since I'm working off a workstation 350 mi away, I need something stronger anyway.

Install a cell phone signal booster. Then use a router to generate a hot spot. At your location you should be able to use more than one cell tower, should the primary temporarily go down. Verizon could be the best choice.

Thank you. However... I might have discovered another solution? There's a generic, public Cox wi-fi thing somewhere on this property. I signed into it and it's been almost flawless. I may stick with this and just change my television service (as that keeps blinking out too).

Any recommendations? I won't go with DirecTV as they seem to be going the cancel-culture route. But, I'm open to other suggestions. Spectrum, Adelphia, Xfinity, and Roadrunner are not available in my area. CenturyLink is, but I think they use DirecTV for their TV service.

Glad you found a solution. You could try the live streaming services for TV. We cut our TV service out years ago.

We don't use any TV service at this time, so I can't recommend any. We occasionally stream a video. We are considering installing a free TV antenna for local stations. The news and weather is about all we are interested in. You can probably search the net and get some deals and try it. You can always cancel if you don't like it. Wish I could be of more help.

Have you considered finding a closet office outside the home?

There's a TON of office space currently going unused at this time and will continue to go unused....they are making deals now for it making it affordable.

It's something that we have looked into for when we move to an area that has lousy IT service so we can get broadband that is reliable.

My wife works from home...and so we can live anywhere.

Additional rent. Blah. Not a terrible idea, but since I found a way to get a working internet, the situation's now moot.

I am currently in communication with a guy trying to get me set up with an antenna and a DVR. Installation and everything will probably cost me around US$500, but I'm willing to pay it if I can get the channels I want, record the shows I want, and can dump Cox TV.
