It depends on what one believes in what OSAS means.

If it's a license to sin then it's not genuine salvation.

However Jesus said he would not lose one given to him by the Father and the sheep that goes astray he will seek and bring back.

Paul addressed the issue of salvation in Romans.

Romans 10:13

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

98. God allows His children to suffer loss of rewards in Heaven rather than exiling them to Hell.
Psa 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Heb 10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

I don't believe in OSAS for one simple reason: We're not saved yet.

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."—1 Corinthians 1:18

I can already hear our KJVO friends jumping in with: "It doesn't "being saved" but "are saved!" This is a very good example why the KJV shouldn't be relied upon exclusively.
Yeah people confuse the idea of faith in salvation as we can claim it today due to the promise of Jesus in His Words.

But technically you have to either physically die or christ returns for one to see salvation.

But OSAS interpretation of eternal security omits the Bible's call to abide and defend from apostasy as it was already happening in their churches.

Of course, the OSAS answer to this, is they never were truly elected so they were destined to fall away.

Eternal security is a legitimate thing for all those of the faith.
Abide in the vine.

So let's discuss the doctrine/issue of so-called Conditional Security vs Eternal Security. Do you believe in Once Saved, Always Saved? I believe Salvation is a Combination of the Grace of Justification+the Grace of Perseverance i.e. Salvation=Justification+Perseverance. So, after Justification, we must pray for perseverance, otherwise we risk being cut off or falling away, as the Bible records that some have done. By God's Grace, we can persevere to the end.

The famous saying of Our Lord is: "But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved." (Mat 24:13)

Three or four passages to start off the discussion below:

1. John 15: "2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit ... 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned."

Seems to be echoed in Romans 11:22: "22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off."

2. Heb 6:4-6:
"4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."

3. 2 Pet 2:20-22:

"20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

These verses very clearly seem to teach that Justification!=(not equal to)Salvation. Initial Justification+Final Perseverance = Full Salvation. Thoughts?

God Bless,
Xavier.
2 Peter 2:1-3
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

I have known a number of people in my lifetime who were sincere Christians well into their adult life. But they later abandoned Christianity and Jesus in their entirety and turned to secularism, agnostic, and atheism. One even became a Buddhist. I'm sure we've all known people like this.

There are many documented cases of Christian evangelists, preachers, pastors who have given up the faith and become atheist. Some Christians give up Christ and convert to Islam or Judaism. Many of today's staunchest militant atheists were once Christian.

So, are those that once strongly believed in Jesus, but have turned completely away and now reject Jesus, do they maintain their 'Once Saved Always Saved' status?

After 25 years of being a Pentecostal Pastor, Jerry Dewitt has become atheist. Is he still saved under the 'Once Saved Always Saved' umbrella? Now he is an atheist organizer. From Pentecostal pastor to atheist organizer - Bing video

Many people who say they are saved, maybe even some on this site, have never been saved because they have not placed their faith in Jesus.
If you believe you can keep yourself saved, can walk away, loose your salvation, I question if you have ever really trusted fully in Jesus for eternal life.
My eternal security is in Jesus.
When I trusted Him, I was born again, became a son of God, and NO man can change that.
If you are not eternally saved, you are not saved.

Hi 1st we always need to understand context of what is written. Always read before and after the verse. Then not to add to what is written. By that I mean "what this verse or Jesus is really saying". Some verses posed are not about salvation but we say they are. I like what one said "Some theologians say that no individual can lose his place in Christ. The ago-old debate over eternal security, as well as predestination and election cannot be settled here. Evidence for a variety of viewpoints may be extracted from the Bible. each believer must settle for a balanced tension, in this case on the subject of the believers security."

I can like many here post scripture after scripture yet what you will never read is "you can lose your salvation/you can never lose your salvation". I like this song "Never forget/Jesus I will never forget what you did for me. By Gary LeVox". Prefect timing..

I truly hurt for those weak in the faith that read some posts here and now have doubts not faith. We did it not Him not the word and to that we will have to answer to Him. So for me its Him warning those that are not truly surrendered to Him only tasted. For me I see some not truly grounded in Him. Still don't know what He did for them and who they are in Him. Doubt is never from God. We do know no one but no one in heaven has the "free will" to leave right? That lie, that thought came from Satan. Hello Adam and Eve? Sin was found in Satan. No one up to that point ever wanted to leave, there was nothing else to go to. So fallen world.. man has to make a choice..

It can be so hard not to see spiritual vs the natural. This haha will not go over good. Can you be saved a preacher then become atheist and still be saved? On the out side looking in no. But since we can't see the heart and that person can still be blind and then are some trying to say salvation is based in time? Yes can still be saved. I don't think GOD is a man nor thinks like one. Grasp that one. We still look around us to then define what truth really is. I don't know how someone can write about leaving the faith and not once talk about Jesus Christ..in the one I read. Jesus is real..no do you know Him like you know your spouse your family your best friend? Jesus Christ is real. PRAISE GOD for all those that never get that encounter with Him yet still believe.
