I got no idea how to put fasting into my busy life. In fact I'm already loosing weight!

I never totally understood fasting. It's like, I discipline myself, and pray, then God gives me what I want in return?

There was only one time in my life when I fasted. It was for a youth meeting. I tried to do it the way they asked me to do it. And I tried to pray and stuff. At the end of day, I'm not sure how much good it actually did. It was a bit strange for me, sine I take high blood pressure medication. Which probably shouldn't be taken on an empty stomach. But whatever.

Fasting is about a lot of things...
Fasting can last for one hour , one week , one month etc...
Whatever we do , do it for the Lord...

Fasting can break bad habits , it can create good habits , fasting is not just about food...

In fact...I am looking to move soon , and I want to break my habit of Vaping...
So I will look to be starting a fast , of not vaping so much , and stop taking out with me when I go places...
I shall pray and fast until God gives me His strength to leave it alone completely ...We all have idols that need breaking , so fasting and praying is a beautiful way for getting rid of them ." Not by my strength O God , but Yours Amen "...\0/

One of the primary points of fasting is to tell your body (flesh), as a vessel of your new, born again, creation, that YOU are in charge,

NOT the desires it wants. This will help when your flesh tries to draw you away from the Lord, with it's various lusts.

I spent years in a continual fast just eating once a day after work. Of course, as I was practically starving I jammed in the food. Perhaps my diet wasn't the most nutritional though as it mainly consisted of frozen stuff and fast food. This was during my single years. Times have changed a little bit since I am now married. Adjustments have been made. I am still in the training process of being a husband. I am loving and faithful though and pray for this each day.

I would not do anything that someone told me to do but rather rely on the message that God tries to convey to me. I believe the benefit that can be derived from fasting is that it allows you to more readily focus on spiritual truths regarding how you should live your day to day life and long-term goals. Based on your post history I would have to say that you are already focused on God.

I think, one of the many purpose of fasting is to humble ourselves before God by not giving into our "desires" the things we "want" like eating or doing bad habits for that particular time, days or even totally breaking that old bad habit and sacrifice the fasting time for what God wants, also fasting draws you much nearer to God and I believe there are a lot more benefits doing a fast spiritually and physically. There are tons of books you can read if you are keen, you can first learn and try to incorporate it into your life little by little, understanding the concept and purpose is very crucial in succeeding a fast also prayer is the key. Hope it helps. ☺️

You've been vaping? Why did you start vaping?

Today I was thinking about my post and started wondering about a comparison between fasting in the old testament verses fasting in the new testament. Because somethings that God wanted people to do in the old, isn't what He wants them to do in the new. But I don't currently have time to make the comparison.

Considering the way my life works, I don't see how fasting would be much of a use for me. I mean due to my stomach problems I don't crave food as much as most people do. Most of the time I only eat to stay alive.

Before I was saved , I was a heavy smoker and a bit of a drinker...
Then I started Vaping once I was saved , and have not touched a cigarette in 7 years...
But I want to stop vaping also , that is why I want to start a fast...

Fasting and praying might help you... I don't know... You got to kick the habit, and your body is still probably dependent on the drug in vapes.

Before my Grandfather got saved he was a heavy smoker and drinker. Right after getting saved the desire just went away. But this doesn't happen for everyone.

Yes , fasting and praying over this will indeed help , once I hand it over to God...
I want to eventually vape 0 nicotine oil , so only the flavour is left , reduce it down to zero as I am vaping 6.mg at the moment...
Since vaping , I have not had one case of bronchitis nor one chest infection , and my lung test showed I have gone from 63 percent of smoke damage to 3 percent , and my nurse said that the 3 percent is from the daily fumes we breath in from traffic...
Nevertheless , it is still a habit that hope will break one day , and I trust in God to do so because He has delivered me from alcohol now for nearly going on 4 yrs...

Fasting and Prayer, as Our Lord taught, can cast out powerful demons. It is all about growing closer to God. Fasting greatly multiplies the effect of our prayer and contributes to our sanctification. It helps us master the flesh and keep it subject to the Spirit. It helps us know the Lord's Will and to do it. The Early Church, as we read in Acts, used to pray and fast whenever making a major decision, to know God's Will. Similarly, it's good to fast whenever we want God's Guidance into something important we're going to do. Some of the early Christians fasted on Wednesday and Friday every week, Wednesday as it was the day before the Lord instituted the Last Supper, and Friday as it was the day of His Passion and Death. Consult the Lord, and do what works for you. If you can fast a full day on water, go for it. If you want to begin with fasting a single meal, or eating only a single meal, do that. Fasting builds spiritual muscle and will-power. Fasting also has numerous health and medical benefits, as my Mother, a Doctor, often says. But believers fast for the spiritual reasons.

God Bless.

I feel that I got to confess, that I've been having so much of a struggle in my life. That I'm not even sure if I believe that prayer works anymore. :(

Will pray for you, Brother. Don't worry, I think the Lord understands your struggles, just don't let go of Him. Cling to Him in prayer, and all will be well. Fast if you can, when you get time, like on weekends. Fasting and Prayer will boost your Faith in time also. God Bless.
