Are you following the Alex Jones hearing? He's already been found liable he chose to ignore the discovery process and turn over any pertinent information
Turns out judges don't like it when you ignore a court order so she issued a default judgment for the plaintiffs
Also the judge keeps having to remind him that this is her courtroom and not his show and he will answer the questions asked and only the questions asked
By the time this judge is through with him, he may be sued down to his last pair of underwear

I'm no fan of Alex Jones. He sounds like a nut most of the time. I havent followed the case but it's possible that this is an attack on free speech which we Christians want to preserve. How long before we are in court for condemning sin?

The number 1 reason to support free speech. Clowns will tell you they are a clown
If you are found guilty of defamation in a court of law, the first amendment is irrelevant
Same reason things like death threats are not covered under the first amendment

No. Defamation is a criminal offense not covered under the first amendment.
So if you deliberately tell lies on people and these lies you deliberately tell cause them damages like getting harassed in death threats then you will be held accountable in a court of law.
James I remember there's a book called The Bible that says you're not supposed to bear false witness against people

If a politician were to deliberately defame someone then I imagine he would be subject to being sued also

Lol, thats some straight garbage. They are always defaming one another, and lying to the public in such ways that it causes damage.

(I dont even listen to alex Jones because he is too far out there, but I dont have to like what someone says.)

There are different rules for politicians and new media outlets than there is for others.

Why are you talking about death threats? Did he threaten someone?

The shooting victims and their families, he accused them of being crisis actors
Due to these allegations, they were threatened and harassed by Alex Jones's insane followers
That's where the proof of damages comes in

You're just talking about political mudslinging. That's not the same thing. And the defamation case you have to actually prove damages
Which is what happened in the Alex Jones case

I wouldn't worry about it if I were him. The judgement is in US dollars, they will soon be worthless.
