The term "Interdenominational"
is probably more fitting. I have seen churches of no particular denomination claim to be interdenominational. However, the mainline protestant denominations usually claim this as do Roman Catholicism.
There are some ecumenical groups, such as the United Nations religious gatherings, that consists of mainline christian, world religions and cults. I wouldn't have anything to do with that. If you want a list of ecumenical denominations, it's probably best to start with the World Council of Churches and the National Council of Churches.

Are these Evangelical Christians non-denominational or denominational?
I don't think anyone cares. The issue I have seen is over whether or not Jesus is the only way to the Father.

Show me a group of people, whether christian or not, trying to form some sort of united effort, whether inside the church or out, & I'll show you a group that will bow the knee to the Antichrist when he shows up.

Looks like a lot of us are united on the idea of being divided for the sake of the truth... That's something. :)

1 Corinthians 11:19~ No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God's approval.

Those who do not stand upon the truth will unify because...
1. They are lost. An antichrist will appeal to most and likely be VERY inclusive, except when it comes to believers in Christ.
2. The truth is divisive and excludes other options. John 14: 6

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

I don't think anyone cares. The issue I have seen is over whether or not Jesus is the only way to the Father.
And many of those who believe in Ecumenism (among Baptized Trinitarian Christians only) also believe very firmly that Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father. Heard of American conservative Cardinal Burke, for e.g.? He said this recently: "After the institution of the New and Everlasting Covenant in Jesus Christ, no one may be saved by obedience to the law of Moses alone without faith in Christ as true God and the only Savior of humankind (see Rom 3:28; Gal 2:16)." and also: "Muslims and others who lack faith in Jesus Christ, God and man, even monotheists, cannot give to God the same adoration as Christians do, that is to say, supernatural worship in Spirit and in Truth (see Jn 4:24; Eph 2:8) of those who have received the Spirit of filial adoption (see Rom 8:15)." Monotheism is a step up from polytheism, yes, but monotheism is not enough for Salvation. For Salvation, in the New Covenant, Explicit Faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is required, and most who believe in Ecumenism also believe in this.

Ecumenism means Christian Churches meet in charity and discuss our doctrinal differences frankly; and, studying the Scriptures etc, see whether any kind of theological common ground can be arrived on. Recently, the Catholic and Lutheran Churches agreed on a Joint Statement on the Doctrine of Justification: Briefly, the Churches agreed Initial Justification is by Grace through Faith in Christ. After Justification, good works done with faith contribute to sanctification. As often as we sin, we can be forgiven when we confess that sin. And when we persevere in faith in Christ, and love of Him, till the end, we will be saved. Also the World Methodist Federation adopted this Declaration. God Bless.

You may think so but one day the entire world will wake up to "one world religion" where Catholic, Islam and Judaism are united saying that all monotheistic religions worship the same God and that the only real problem are Evangelical Christians.

Hi ZNP. Ok. Respectfully disagree, but we'll see. In the meanwhile, let us continue to Evangelize Non-Christians and try to win souls for Our Lord before time runs out. The Great Commission is of the utmost importance.

My opinion is that Ecumenical Unity will help fulfill the Great Commission faster. I know there are some liberal ecumenists who are indifferent to doctrine and even indifferent to Christ and to be clear I don't agree with them.

But with Conservative Doctrinal Ecumenists, I agree. And the reasons for the same I gave above with some references.

God Bless.

The principle or aim of promoting unity among the world's Christian Churches.

Unity is not the question. The question is how it is achieved.

I would like to borrow from RR's previous thread:

Ephesians 4:
1I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

This does not embrace false God's or doctrines for the sake of unity. The Unity God desires of His Bride is a pure unity.

Those who are indwelled by the Holy Spirit are united by the Holy Spirit.. These people need no Ecumenical movement...

But false christian denominations need it to unite their members with other organizations to increase membership numbers to increase their combined political power/ influence..

Nicholas Zinzendorf was..the first person to use the word "ecumenical"..
- in the 18th century.
- Moravian story..Herrnhut, Germany.

According to the story, a united human race speaking a single language and migrating eastward, comes to the land of Shinar (שִׁנְעָר‎). There they agree to build a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Yahweh, observing their city and tower, confounds their speech so that they can no longer understand each other, and scatters them around the world.

op: ecumenism?

May or may not be helpful?:

"Alas that the professing church has departed so far
from the truth that it is divided into hundreds of “bodies,”
practicing scores of “baptisms” and boasting when it
becomes possible for those of “the various faiths” to
meet together in union services!" (CR Stam)
