Some of Psalm 119 was prayed while He was dead. the last verse 176 is an example where He asks the Father to seek Him and raise Him to life again. Psalm 88 is a prime example of one of His prayers while He was dead. His reason for wanting to live was to continue to praise His Father and declare His truth and wonders and works. He prays that in a number of Psalms. Psalm 30 is His resurrection Psalm where He again recounts that prayer and that He wants to live to continue to declare His Father's truth.

Psalm 30:8-9

I cried to Thee, O YHVH; and unto YHVH I made supplication.
What profit is there in My blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise Thee? shall it declare Thy truth?

There is immense profit in His blood if He lives. He saves us and is our life.

while it may seem disrespectful to David to point out that Psalm 119 is not his prayer, he likely appreciates the record being set straight. it was probably embarrassing for him that the Son's prayer for life was attributed to him for so long.

besides, think what it means for the Jews and the Muslims and the Christians. It proves beyond doubt that the Scriptures are true and Yahshua is indeed the Messiah Whose actual prayer to be raised from the dead, because of His obedience to the law in giving His life to save us, is recorded in the Scriptures that the major religions recognize. it also explains the purpose of the law in saving Him from death, because of His obedience in giving His life to save us, as the law required of Him.

the fact that no verses are offered from Psalm 119 to disprove that Psalm 119 is the Son's prayer for life, further substantiates that it is indeed His prayer. as students of the Word it would seem that some of you reviewed Psalm 119 to challenge the assertion of the thread. since no one has offered any serious challenge from the Psalm itself that would indicate none can be found. in fact, when reading the Psalm you can hear His voice in the verses. it also reveals His prayers with His Father while He suffered for us. what intimate revelation once you realize that. it opens up the true meaning of the Psalm and the Scriptures in a whole new light. His testimony is the Spirit of prophecy.

Psalm 119 is Davids Prayer.

The Lord Jesus didn't go astray. This is purely your imagination. Its a fanciful thought but it misses the mark.

there are 2 places where the english word astray occurs in Psalm 119 in the KJV. the first is verse 67 and is the Hebrew word shagag H7683. it means to be unaware in the sense He is using it. the verse reads in the KJV as

Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept Thy Word.

a more accurate translation is:

before i was afflicted I was unaware, but I have kept Thy Word.

So actually He is saying He learned through what He suffered for us, and kept His Father's Word in doing so. that is completely in agreement with what Hebrews 5:7-9 says.

Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared; Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered; And being made perfect, He became the Author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him;

He learned obedience through the things He suffered. He was made perfect through what He learned from the affliction and death He endured to save us in obedience to His Father and the law. That is what verse 67 is about.

also remember, He had not completely obeyed the law till He breathed His last breath on the cross and commended His Spirit to His Father and died. He was learning all through the process of being crucified and killed and dead to save us. He learned and was perfected through the affliction and death the law required of Him. Verse 67 is telling us exactly that as He prayed it to His Father.

two verses later He says in verse 69.

The proud have forged a lie against Me: I will keep Thy precepts with My whole heart.

in verse 66 He says.

Teach Me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed Thy commandments.

He believed His Father's commandments and laws and the promise of life in the law Him for obedience in offering His life as a sacrifice as the law required of Him. that was His faith in His Father's promise that He would live even if He died in obedience to the law.

see what knowing Psalm 119 is the Son's prayer to live and be raised can teach us. it teaches us what He did for us and what He went through to be obedient, in His Own words to His Father. how amazing is that?

The other place the english word astray occurs in Psalm 119 is the last verse 176. this verse has been address in previous posts so let's look at the whole stanza of 8 verses. (comments in parens following the verses)

(He asks to be delivered from death according to the promise of life in the law to Him.

for You teach Me your statutes.
(He anticipates being raised according to the promise of life to Him which will result in great praise)

for all Your commandments are righteousness.
(He wants to praise physically by being raised to life again according to the promise in the law to Him)
173 Let Your hand be ready to Help Me,
(He trusts His Father will raise Him)
for I have chosen Your precepts.
(He was completely obedient to the law in giving His life to save us)
174 I have longed for Your salvation, YHVH.
(He longs for His Father to save Him and raise Him to life again, after giving His life in obedience to the law)
Your Torah is My delight.
(the law is His delight and He trusts in the promise)
175 Let My soul live, that I may praise You.
(He asks to be raised to life so He may continue to praise His Father)
Let Your judgments help Me.
(He trusts His Father will raise Him because of His obedience in giving His life as the law required of Him)
176 I have gone astray like a slain Lamb.
(He was separated from His Father in death. He was not disobedient in any way and had completely obeyed the law)
Seek Your Servant, for I don’t forget Your commandments.
(He again expresses His Faith in the promise of life in the law to Him and trusts His Father to raise Him)

verse 176 has poor translation in most english versions as explained in previous posts. the word astray is not accurate. He was dead when praying this stanza and asking to be raised throughout because of His obedience to the law in giving His life to save us. He praises the law throughout the stanza and ask His Father to raise Him because of His obedience. He also refers to Himself as a slain Lamb when describing His current situation in death. How telling is that? as explained in prior posts, lost sheep is not accurate. the Hebrew word abad means perished or destroyed in it's many usages. that means slain, not lost. He was the "slain Lamb" while praying this stanza.

don't let a couple poorly translated english words get in your way of seeing it when the entire Psalm proclaims that this is the Son's prayer for life and to be raised after offering His life to be obedient to the law and save us.

Still trying to get over the term 'Yahshua'.

A contact I know online spent a lot of time in Israel and he says Messianic Jews from there who speak Hebrew think some of these alternative versions of the name of Jesus and inventive versions of the name of God are strange. Do you know of any attestation of 'Yahshua' as a name in Hebrew at all?

It seems like Messianic Jews use the Name Yeshua from Hebrew word H3444 for salvation. The sound of Yeshua and Yahshua is almost the same. the Name YAH H3050 is used in Scripture 49 times. YAH is the sound of Eternal that is sounding throughout creation constantly. YHVH is YAHAVAH. Vah is a sound used in many Hebrew words that means authoritative command as in the word sava H6680. Vah also means breath. so YAHAVAH means Eternal Word or Eternal breath. also interestingly the word ahava means love. YAH wey is not correct. there is no substantiation for the syllable wey in the Hebrew but there is lots of proof for VAH being the last syllable of His holy Name including that the Name points to the Son as the Eternal Word.

Yahshua means eternal salvation and YAH's Salvation or YAH is Salvation.

I get the impression that you don't know Hebrew, rely on the Strong's concordance, and that you haven't researched these names, and you haven't considered whether the portion of the divine name 'Yah' works at the beginning of a word like it does at the end. is that correct? 'Yehoshua' is an attested name in Hebrew.
