There is a Hollywood writers’ strike. This writers’ strike is causing layoffs. My job was one of those that has been axed. This Friday I am officially laid off. Pray, however you feel led, please. I don't want to be homeless again.

I'm praying for you, too, bro.

Thanks for all the sympathetic emojis. Seriously. I just can't go through 2017-2019 again.

Might be time for a new line of work....you've been having issues with this one for a while.
Try the universities....they need people too. Pay isn't the greatest usually but it is stable.

The industry I've picked is cruel for sure.

Yes. I work for a University. They're usually a good, stable employer. Praying for Gojira, that the Lord will open the right door. Soon.

I've contacted around a dozen or so former co-workers and supervisors. ~8 have gotten back to me so far. 6 are affected and out of work. 1 works in games and so is unaffected. The other has more of a technical position, but he's on a contract which expires in about a year.

My wife did contract work at Vanderbilt University years ago....she never missed a paycheck. As soon as her contract came up they found ways to keep her working even during a hiring freeze. They of course renewed her contract. Then she changed departments and got promoted.

I found it amazing how many people and various talents were needed at a medical University. They are like a city inside a city. You wouldn't think that they employed that many people....but they do. At one time Vanderbilt University had over 20% of the available labor in Nashville. They were the largest employer in middle TN.
In poor areas of the nation Walmart is the largest employer. But today with even more remote work available than ever before it's changing.

It is something to consider. I will see how this goes.
