Paul knew he was not Baptised by water into Christ. If that were the case then everyone who takes a bath would be in Christ.
that might win the prize for the most inane comment I've seen on here.... and there have been a bunch. LOL.... carry on....

What is within defiles a man. The word of God cleanses there. The willingness to obey is the evidence that this has been done. Only God can create in us a clean heart.

No matter how this sounds on the surface, NO ONE IS SAVED BY WATER BAPTISM. That is false doctrine, which permeates the Catholic Church.
This is human sensibilities.

"It cannot mean what it says because it violates my accepted understanding of salvation."

This has nothing to do with the Catholic Church, you are simply attempting to "muddy up the waters".

Perhaps the message the Lord was conveying
"Perhaps"??? How about lettings scripture stand on its own.

Acts 22:16 is rather simple, no need to insist on a hidden meaning simply to protect your sensibilities.
All Christians have a duty to understand the significance and importance of the shed blood of Christ for the remission of their sins.
Paul's sins came into contact with the blood of Jesus (not physical blood) at water baptism.

Hence the words "wash away your sins".

Ananias and Paul accepted this. Why must you and others insist that this is not the case?

You may think you are defending scripture but you are really defending a series of preconceived sensibilities.

Your either Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ or your Baptised in water by a man.

You can receive both but only one is required to take part with Christ.

Jeremiah 17:10
English Standard Version
“I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

Acts 13:22
King James Version

And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

God does not willy-nilly choose among us who is to be "cleansed". He searches out amidst His creation to bless according to His conditions.

To be Baptised is to wash.

To wash oneself-bathe

Do you even have a working definition of "Baptised in the holy Ghost by Christ"?

If you do please share it. With scripture please.
John the Baptist Baptises with water.

Christ Jesus Baptises in the holy Ghost.

Comprehend?

Water does not wash sins away.If that were the case, the Pharisees would have no sin.

That is the very opposite of grace.
Also, a man after God's own heart just means God chose. Saul was a man after the people's own hearts. That's who the people chose.

That is the very opposite of grace.
It is what the scripture state.

It maybe opposite of your personal understanding of grace.

Also, a man after God's own heart just means God chose. Saul was a man after the people's own hearts. That's who the people chose.
God "chose" David because of his heart.

God did not create the heart of David to be as one "after His own".

Hmm,,,the ever constant torture of the mind that many are trapped in, in that Paul realized that day on that road that he was saved at the same place and time as all of us which is the Cross of Calvary... Lord thank you for the peace that came in understanding that when I sought to save mine own self I denied the blood of the washing of your salvation....

Baptism is like that. It saves you now—not because it removes dirt from your body but because it is the mark of a good conscience toward God. Your salvation comes through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Baptism is not a bath.

Your comments are rather immature.

You don't understand the meaning of a working definition, do you? Be honest.
I need not devise a working definition.

John the Baptise Baptises with water which is the baptism you believe is of God.

Christ Baptises in the holy Ghost which is the spirit of God

Which baptism have you received?

Water baptism only cleans the outside of the cup.Not the inside. It does nothing for the conscience as it does not wash sin away.

It is the baptism of the holy spirit that cleanses the inside.

Mathew 23:25
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

The very definition of baptism is to submerge as for washing. To bathe.
