Heya everyone.

I've been living quietly on my own for about seven years now.

On Friday, I was laying in bed with headphones on, with most of the lights turned off in my house.

Out of nowhere, I saw a black guy wearing a baseball cap peek inside my bedroom for a moment.

I was beyond startled and perhaps screamed a little.

I called 911 but nothing came of it. The officers that showed up here didn't even give me a police incident number on this.

I also called my landlord but he didn't respond back.

Anyway, two days later this Sunday, I had a home invasion.

Three black guys broke into my house and the only thing I could think of at the moment was to rush at them all.

Afterwards, I had a few squad cars with dogs surrounding the area and I was told 8 other squad cars were in pursuit of these guys.

They were spotted based on my description of them, but somehow jumped some fences and finally got away during the police chase.

My landlord has yet to come by here to help me better secure my house.

I have three doors to my home and they have always been locked so I'm not sure what else can be done for now.

I'm all alone again tonight so I'm asking for a simple prayer of safety for myself.

Thanks ahead if you even say something very short to God on my behalf.

Dear Lord,
Please fill your child's heart with your peace and comfort. This world we are living in is full of many dark people and things, and we need your protection to make it through.
Guard Addison and let her rest in your arms tonight knowing she has the Almighty hand of God by her side.
Amen.

Omygosh!

Thank you so very much Natania!

I'm not quite a chick though but all I was hoping for was a prayer from someone tonight.

So thanks again.

Dear Addison,

I have been praying for your protection and peace.I will continue to pray for these things as well as that your house gets secured and that they catch these intruders.
Just a tip: When you are alone at night and fearful thoughts start coming to you , play music by the Sons of Korah. They have set the Psalms to music. They can be found on youtube.Remember that King Saul got David to play him music to keep evil spirits away from him.The enemy hates godly music - it sounds like nails scraping a chalk board. You can implement this and silence the fearful thoughts that the enemy would try and employ against you. Also, read Psalm 91.Read it over and over again till you feel that the words are sinking into your spirit.

I am including two sermons by Francis Chan on fearless living :

Fearless - Francis Chan Series | SermonAudio.com

Remember, dear brother - you are not alone and are dearly loved.Take courage!

Lord, please encamp your angels around Addison and his home. Direct them to cover every door and window. Let the men who broke in be caught and have justice delivered. Keep everyone in Addison's neighborhood safe from these thugs until they are captured. In Jesus' name, amen.

Wow brother that is sad, had no idea. May God bless and protect you. If I were you I'd keep one of those day/night sensing lights or use a plugin sensor so that it will trip due to motion or day/night settings as criminals hate light....

Also I'd keep a gun, baseball bat, maybe even a nail-gun on hand if you have it.....lock and load....

Also a good tip I saw on TV was if you can wedge something like a thin piece of wood between the door hinges or floor of the door it will make it harder to open the door. Just a suggestion.... take care....

I did have a motion detector light in the back, but my landlord took that away over a week ago.

He did put in a dead bolt, but there's no handle on the outside door.

If I lock it, I can't get back in anymore since the door pulls out and not in.

He also took my front door key and hasn't returned that to me either so I can no longer leave my house with it locked.

It's now been 10 days since this, and I have little to no idea on what to do here.

If anyone can point me to some legal advice or who I should contact in my area (zip code 48906), please message me.

Thanks.

Maybe you need to change address. Get away from there.

Do you think it is legal to call a locksmith in your local area and have them change your locks or add a second lock to secure the one that's already in place (that way your landlord can still access and you can give him the key later) or at least have it temporarily until he returns your key?

Document document document, if your missing anything make sure to document it asap b/c the more time there is between realizing something is missing the less chance of recovery or of insurance paying for it......

Take a ton of pictures if the door was damaged, a friend of mine had a problem like this with dumb hood kids trying to break in to his empty house for sale......b/c they probably thought there was stuff in there even though it was empty...anyway the lock held up but had bruises on the handle and around the cover over the cylinder there were signs of trying to drill or break around the cuffs of the lock.......I took pictures, bought one of those cheap dollar store day/night sensors for outdoor/indoor set it up with a light outside so that when night comes it auto turns on....also I bought dark out curtains to give privacy and not allow easy surveying of inside......and then I stuck a big sign saying no trespassing right on the inside window of the door...to let the a-hole know we knew what he was up to.....

never had an issue since.....sure it took some time, effort, and money ($40-50 total) but was worth it for extra security and telling a crook to back his sorry butt off......

If you pay the utility bill you are entitled to have a motion detecting device b/c your paying for the current....he's probably a cheap donkey who doesn't want to pay extra current charges.....
