Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

Correction of the post above...the Living and Abiding Word of God is the Word of the Lord proclaimed unto them (vs 25b) (see also Isaiah 40:6-8) This is the incorruptible seed. It does not mean that the redeemed spirit is incorruptible in the sense that it cannot sin. It only means that the...

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

The fact remains that a verse that I quoted earlier, the one in 1 Thess. teaches that our SPIRITS must be preserved blameless. (1 Thess. 5: 23) This is accomplished by the continuing mediation and work of Christ, and of the Holy Spirit. If our spirit was inc(orruptible, it would not need to be...

Unless they are drawn, (that is unless they learn from the Father), they cannot come. So water your witness with prayer, before, during, and after.

The incorruptable seed is the Word of God. 1 Peter 1;23. This can be interpreted as the Bible or Jesus, but reading the verse, I think it must refer to Jesus. He is the incorruptible seed, and sinless, not us or our spirit.

Who understands and can explain the meaning of Romans 9:3-4?

This is my understanding as well, although I would be careful say God has not set aside the Jews as a people, but rather Israel as a nation (temporarily).

    Not By Works

As you know, we agree on many things, perhaps most things, and I know we agree on the fact that sinless perfection and works based salvation is unbiblical. I was not trying to contradict you, but just bringing up that the older forms of holiness teachings, (like that taught by John Wesley) would...

    Not By Works

Another name for entire sanctification is "made perfect in love". It is not sinlessness (they do not say we are without hamartia 1 John 1:8), it is described as a pure, undivided loyalty/love to God in heart and intention. AND they do not teach it as a goal, but rather as a gift to be received...

    Not By Works

I do not hold to all the tenets of "entire sanctification in this life", but I must say here that I have studied it, and your statement is not a an accurate description. Holiness in the Wesleyan tradition teaches entire sanctification FOLLOWS justification, and progressive sanctification...

    Not By Works

FollowHisSteps can correct me if I'm wrong, but it is my understanding that the holiness movement (at least Wesleyan) does not teach perfection in the sense that those who are sanctified never commit acts of "hamartia", but rather entire sanctification is the work of God whereby the heart is...

Who understands and can explain the meaning of Romans 9:3-4?

GO learn what this means... 1 Timothy 2:1- 1I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people-

Who understands and can explain the meaning of Romans 9:3-4?

Genesis 12:3 in thy seed shall all families of the earth be blessed... Psalm 22:27- All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. Isaiah 19:24-25-24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and...

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

The Spirit that cannot sin is the Holy Spirit. Our spirits can sin as well as our bodies and souls. That is why Paul wrote... And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1...

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

There is no blasphemy, because it is God who works in us to will and to do of His Good pleasure, whether saving faith or whether the effects that follow saving faith.

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

True. I gave the wrong text for the verse I was quoting

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

Fair and valid interpretation. So then, would you say that pneuma in 2 Cor. 7:1 has a different meaning than pneuma in Hebrews 12 where it speaks of spirits of just men made perfect? Because clearly what we do and say is not perfect till we are at home with the LORD

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

Sorry, I see on second reading you were kidding and not mocking. Sorry for the misunderstanding So post 856 answers an excellent question you brought up. Are we in agreement on what I said there? 2 Cor 7:1 is still on the table

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

Positional versus practical sanctification. We are declared fully righteous, but there are still things that are being cleansed for fellowship and increased fruitfulness

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

Boy, you talk about me being a smart aleck. Did you not read the partial quote of the verse, or are you wholly unfamiliar with 2 Cor 7:1 Mocking someone over a typo is cheap

Faith/Works...How much faith? How much works?

So if someone will exegete 2 Corinthians 7:1 in a way that supports our spirits no longer needing cleansing, I am willing to be corrected by the Word of God
