Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

If we consider the context, it's clear the baptism Jesus is speaking of is water in His name. Matt. 28:19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Same conversation Jesus said The one who has (1)believed...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

I read and understand Eph. 2:8 just as written with the understanding that verse 9 gives us. 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. We are not saved by works and we are not saved without them. I'm sorry but what you shared is false. Peter tells me baptism now saves you and you...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

Jesus also said this. The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved; Has been, past tense. Not the one who has believed will be saved and then should be baptized. What did Peter say. Did he say the water judged them? Did he say they were saved out of water? If it wasn't the...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

100% The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; eight persons, were brought safely through the water. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

I'm sorry that is not totally correct. Yes, 100% it is the resurrection of Jesus. This passage tells us how we access the resurrection of Jesus. He gives the example of people saved through water eight persons, were brought safely through the water. Then he says those saved through water...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

Peter uses the example of 8 souls being saved through water in the ark as an example of how baptism saves. who once were disobedient when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through...

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

That reference of "like figure" isn't for baptism. The example of water in the previous chapter symbolizes baptism.

Why can’t i speak in tongues as a Christian

Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money, Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

Is Baptism in water a work or a command? Is it necessary for salvation?

The bible NEVER tells us baptism is symbolic. This is what the bible tells us baptism is: The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: This...

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

From what I read in scripture, it does do something. For example, could Naama's leprosy be cleansed any other way than dipping in the waters of the Jordan? Also, looking at the conversion of Paul, at what point did the Holy Spirit baptize him? In Acts 22:16, why does Ananias ask him what he...

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

one Lord, one faith, one baptism, You've listed 2 baptisms. One of them doesn't belong. If there is one baptism and it's baptism of the Holy Spirit, then why did Paul baptize the Ephesians in water?

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

In my opinion, this is a great place to get a better understanding of how this works and a lot can be learned from it. If we look at the end of the previous chapter, we see they were not disciples of John but of Apollos. Apollos taught them Jesus accurately but he only knew John's baptism...

Were the Ephesians water baptized when they were converted?

    Baptism

I'm sorry but this is all wrong. Baptism in the name of Jesus is water baptism. 47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. What John said about baptized...

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

I agree with you up to this point. True. If you're saying the operation of God is the when they heard the gospel they believed, I agree. Why did Peter call for a response? How did the 3,000 respond that the others did not?

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

With all sincerity, I'm sorry but it does not say that here or anywhere else. When I first asked you who grafted the branches in, you said God and I agreed with that because that is the truth. Now you want to say a "branch adds itself". The HS, through Paul, is trying to tell us something...

God's ONE Baptism For His Body!

I agree to some degree. It's clear from the passage Paul still had his sins and he still had something to do to "wash" them away. We also see urgency by Ananias asking "why do you wait?" Paul had to arise and be baptized. All conversions end in baptism for a reason.
