You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

That's part of why I post what I post. SOOO many are taught to THINK they have the Holy Ghost, and to reject asking God about it as if that was faithless (instead of prudent). On the day of Pentecost, did they just think they were filled with the Holy Spirit... or did they start speaking in...

Post #176 was well-said. It wouldn't hurt others to read it. :) Yes, I know that's commenting on my own post but something has been standing out to me lately, and that is the danger of "What did we hear first... doctrine?... or what is written?". I think I read Mark 1:1 before hearing a...

@p_rehbein oops. It may be that it wasn't you who was suggesting the holy ghost only comes at laying on of hands. I just reread some postings and realized you might have only been saying that "sanctification" comes at laying on of hands. My apologies if I attributed that doctrine to the...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

@p_rehbein This posting isn't a harsh criticism (as it might first seem) but is rather pointing you to point out what could be a hypocrisy if overlooked. You said "I hope folks know that water baptism is a "work." Why? Because it requires two people to complete." If you are saying that the...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

Have you received the Holy Ghost with speaking in tongues, as did those in Acts 19:6 at the laying on of Paul's hands? I realize that you don't put a great value on water baptism in your postings thus far. But I'm glad to see you put value on the actual receiving of the Holy Ghost rather than...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

You can call it ''works salvation', a 'heresy' or a 'bicycle' if you like. What I have actually been doing is showing what baptism is FOR, quoting the clear biblical statements that water baptism is "for the remission of sins" (Mark 1:4, Luke 3:3, Acts 2:38) That happens to be God's word...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

BTW, I had to ask God about Ephesians 4:5 similar to how I had to ask him about what they call "the great commission" in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Because... there is a baptism in water and there is a baptism with the Spirit. So...I wondered and asked...Why does that only mention "one...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

Technically there is at least one recorded group that was baptized twice. The group of 12 in Acts 19. They were baptized under what seems to be a partial version of John's baptism, then again in the name of Jesus once Paul shared the missing pieces of understanding. That group impresses me ...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

Mark 1:4-5 KJV John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. [5] And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. Luke 3:2-3 KJV Annas and...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

I think many people have a problem with John's baptism being "For the remission of sins" because they (unlike the people being baptized by John) have most often heard of Jesus FIRST... And associate all possibility of remission with what Jesus already accomplished... and can't comprehend that...

You keep using the word "Forgive". But John wasn't baptizing a baptism for "Forgiveness" it was "Remission" There's a difference. Love in Jesus, Kelby

@Magenta I hope you read post 147 because the difference in outlook is directly related to the difference in outcome. And I'd not want you to miss the greater opportunity in prayer. But the reason I'm writing this is that I want to know "Would you still like me to answer your posts #129 &...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

I'm going to share something here that I usually wouldn't share. Most people approach God as if it is unlikely that God will speak openly in response.... And they get what they believe for....it is unlikely that God will speak openly to them. They do that because of what they choose to focus...

I read, re-read, re-write, read (possibly repeat those first steps a few times), re-read, post if it seems close enough, then re-read and edit until the 5 minutes runs out. lol Then I re-read it and usually what the other person wrote...a few times.. lol :) Love in Jesus, Kelby BTW, a...

You need both water baptism and the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit.

Thats actually part of the reason I kept pointing Jeff towards the actual verse. Arguing about forgiveness is a moot point / non-argument because the verse (at least in KJV) isn't talking about John forgiving sins. The verse IS talking about remission (segregating the sin from the person...

The apostles had faith in Christ before they had the Holy Ghost. Yet the Holy Ghost is NECESSARY. (sorry if that comes across as blunt or terse) Love in Jesus, Kelby

I'll address this when I get back, but there are two points to consider: I never said John was forgiving sins. I hadn't used the word "forgive" at all. What does it state John was baptizing for? it might also be beneficial to explore the difference between "forgiveness" and "remission"... As...

sorry I'm shortening this to only the portions I'm addressing now. I need to get to some other tasks. Can you share the scripture that states something along the lines of "Circumcision of the heart is what allows us to believe." ? I looked briefly but couldn't find anything. It is my firm...
