I was wondering who believes you can get unsaved.

I would suggest that the important question is not: Can you get unsaved? The most important question is this: Do you believe in Jesus Christ and his atoning sacrifice for your sins? If the answer is "yes" you are saved. If the answer is "no" you are not saved.

    Is voting a Christian duty?

Good point: can you name me any candidate who intends to run the country according to the principles of the Sermon on the Mount: that is, for example: love you enemy, swear not at all, give to him that asketh thee, lay up treasures in heaven (not on earth), take no thought for tomorrow . ...

    Total Depravity

At first glance, I thought I agreed exactly with what you said here, but I actually think the last statement would be clearer if you said simply that "we are counted as having sinned when Adam sinned." In Romans 5:12, Paul says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death...

This came to my attention recently -----is it Faith IN Jesus or Faith OF Jesus

The idea that the Greek genitive case is possessive and literally translated as "of' is quite simplistic. It is just not that simple. So in Romans 3:22 translating the Greek genitive of "Jesus Christ" as in or as of is a matter of context and the author's intended meaning. The statement...

    Can a Saved Person

Of course a saved person can sin! Perhaps a better question is: Does God give everything that we need to live above sin?

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

If that were true, you would meet Hitler and Stalin in heaven.

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

Thank you! I am doing well - just extremely busy - pastoring, teaching, and other work.

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

Believing in Jesus is the only way to eternal life. If a person dies without belief in Jesus, I do not see any way they would have eternal life.

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

I think I would agree with everything you wrote here, except I would say the last line something like this: I have been forgiven, and because I believe in Jesus, I continue to find forgiveness moment by moment in his blood payment.

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

I grew up thinking that "confession" was saying the right words. But the word for "confess" here is homologeo which means literally "to say the same thing as" or to agree with. The person who says words like "I am sorry," but in his heart does not agree with God about the sin is not really...

Why I now believe that salvation can be lost.

This whole business of salvation, eternal security, Calvinism, and Arminianism, can get quite complex and argumentive. There is one thing I know from Scripture: (1) Only those who believe in Jesus will get to heaven (2) Those who do not believe in Jesus will not get to heaven

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

I John 1:7 says that for those who are walking in the light (believers), the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses (Greek present tense = ongoingly, continually) them from all sin (sin is actually singular here in the Greek = each and every sin). I grew up thinking that I needed to verbally confess...

I’m in this ridiculous discussion online and need some help with how to respond to this person- thanks!

Part of what is going on here is the core differences between God and man. One must first understand who God is: if you are arguing from different beginning points on a view of God, you will get different results.

    Stars, Dust & Sand

John 1:1 does not give the entire picture of the Trinity: It just tells us clearly that Jesus (the Word) was in the beginning and was God.
