Are you saying that Scripture proves immersion? If so, please explain.

    10 Questions about OSAS

First of all, you didn't offend me - I was just trying to clear up a common misunderstanding of those who don't believe in OSAS. What is interesting is that you still must not get it - because you give another "story" (gripping the hand above) by which I assume you are trying to say that I (or...

    10 Questions about OSAS

The idea that anyone who does not hold to "once saved always saved" is always "concerned about losing salvation" is just not so . . . I do not hold to "once saved always saved" and to be blunt - the idea that I might be losing my salvation is not even on my radar - I have no worries about that...

    Baptized With The Holy Spirit

Here is what I mean: This is a direct quote from Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words - a very standard and accepted Bible dictionary: baptizo = "to baptize," primarily a frequentative form of bapto, "to dip," was used among the Greeks to signify the dyeing of a garment, or...

    Baptized With The Holy Spirit

Some good information you give here - and I mostly would agree. Except that to use the definition of the Greek word "baptizo" as saying it means immersion is a bit of a stretch. But I like the honesty that you have when ye say that Matthew 3:16 does not explicitly mention immersion.

    Baptized With The Holy Spirit

The reactions of people here surprise me a bit . . . None of these texts clearly prove immersion. One would just as much say "came up out of the water" if John poured water on Jesus' head while he was kneeling in the Jordan. I personally am very OK with using immersion for baptism, and that...

The Glasgow razor boy and eternal security

The issue of eternal security is not answered by supposed experiences or by stories: both sides of this theological issue can give stories . . . The question is simply what does the Bible say about who is it that will be saved?

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

Perhaps you are thinking more deeply theologically than my intentions here. Surely "justification" is related to forgiveness and they definitely overlap, but they are not parallel terms. When I say forgiveness I mean that every sin must be forgiven, be gone, (the Greek word aphieme means "to...

The Antichrist will be a Muslim!!!

I skipped to the bottom of what was written and saw this: "This knowledge was given to me by Jesus Christ" and decided not to read the rest.

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

In actual practice I would agree with you that we "don't fall from grace over one sin, but rather than a deliberate rejection of one's Christian faith." But I am trying to dig a bit deeper in this thread: that is - it only takes one sin till one faces the wages of eternal death. And the...

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

See posts 36, 39 for some of a response to your point here. Your caution that one should not "assume that His Shed Blood covers it by proxy" is a very valid and important caution. And I agree that for a person to then just go on sinning is "abusing God's work on the cross" And I take your...

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

I at one point in my life interpreted "confess" in I John 1:9 as saying the right words of sorrow/grief/ et. to God. I thought that if I got angry at my brother, and then that evening in a prayer told God that I was sorry, that then God would forgive me. But this approach makes forgiveness...

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

You definitely hit the nail on the head here as far as the basis for forgiveness: it is the blood of Christ shed on Calvary - "without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin." Maybe you can view my question as trying to make sense of whose sins then are the ones that are...

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

With this view, what would you say happens to a Christian who commits a sin, but then is killed/dies before he says a prayer of confession to God for that sin?

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

See also post # 6 - Bit part of your confusion is because I made a mistake in my wording on # 3 -- It should have said "it is forgiven immediately when it is committed"

For the Christian, when does God forgive sins?

The Christian who is believing in Jesus and His atoning work on Calvary may commit an act of sin - but when he does, that sin is forgiven because of the blood of Jesus. God does not wait to forgive the sin until the person can say some of prayer of confession. If this was the case, then...
