The book of Job, my favorite book.

What are you actually saying about the Book of Job? That it's not historical? That it's only an allegory? What?

Jezebel Queen of False Prophets and the Jezebel Spirit

I think that the "Jezebel spirit" is in all of us, male and female, that is, the spirit of rebellion that began with Adam and Eve.

    Prophecy For The Now

The Bible's word "prophecy" is roughly equal to our word today "preaching," when it applies the Bible passages to the hearers' lives.

Do those condemned to hell suffer forever?

There is no end to hell because God's just nature never ends.

The Bible's theme in a nutshell?

I think that we will live in our resurrected bodies in the new universe (Revelation 21:1) to which the new Jerusalem descends in the rest of the chapter.

The Bible's theme in a nutshell?

No, because we can't obey the commandments of God perfectly the way he wants us to. Jesus is our Substitute in live, death, and resurrection power to be able to fight Satan and make spiritual progress in obeying him. Always remember the Bible is God's history, the climax of which is Jesus.

    Church buildings

In most climates like ours in West Michigan, we do need buildings for both summer and winter!

    Total Depravity

It comes from our constant tendency to put "SELF" on the throne of our lives instead of God.

    Total Depravity

I believe that we are not guilty of sin at birth, as a newborn is incapable of sinning. However, due to the Fall, all humanity stands guilty before God. Adam and Eve were initially in a perfect, innocent, and sinless state. They walked in the garden without realizing their nakedness. But after...

    Total Depravity

Ephesians 2:1-3 says that we are born dead to God, spiritually stillborn. Sin is the essential self-centeredness of humans. If you want to see it illustrated, watch the great movie Amadeus, which I watched last night on my 82nd birthday. It shows two people, Mozart and Salieri, who basically...

The devil temps people with what is already theirs.

How can you say that the devil tempted Eve with what was already hers? The tree of the knowledge of good and evil wasn't already hers. That's why God forbade Eve and Adam to eat of it.

    Isaiah 9:3 dicussion.

The KJV is the only translation that inserts the word "not" or "no" with joy. All the others say that there is great joy. Isaiah 6:6, of course, gives us the context that a child-Ruler is born, pointing forward to Jesus, the Prince of Peace. The KJV does have a few errors in its translation.

How can we get closer to God?

When we can, attend a Bible-preaching church regularly. Join a Bible-discussion small group. These are other tried and true ways. Individualism separates us, but God brings Christians together.

The word of God is not a secret code that needs unlocked.

The Bible is God's Word. Therefore, we need to interpret it according to the meanings of the words he inspired in Hebrew and Greek. Get a good concordance and study all the places God inspired the uses of words in their contexts, and you will understand his meanings, not those of our cultures.

This came to my attention recently -----is it Faith IN Jesus or Faith OF Jesus

Faith is never our work. Ephesians 2:8.9 says very clearly, "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." One principle of Bible interpretation is using a clear passage to interpret...

    Works and Salvation

Ah, if we could obey the whole Bible perfectly the way those passages say, God would save us. HOWEVER, we can't because nobody's perfect. Jesus was and is perfect; it was his perfection and his death that saves us. His resurrection enables us to live a life of good works. So, it's all to his...

And Jesus' resurrection power gives us the resource to make spiritual progress (Colossians 3), though because we still live in these bodies, we don't become perfect until we die.

    Collection for the Saints

Take a look at Jesus' condemnation of the Pharisees' giving but his approval of their tithing: Mat_23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you...
