I fear God more than I do love Him

God is my God and Jesus is my Savior. He's not my "lover," he's not my "friend," nothing else except my first sentence.

On being an endangered species of an endangered species

Christian movies (by which I mean movies made largely by Christians) by their nature are agenda driven. Someone always converts in the end. Someone who does bad things (but not really bad things, God forbid) turns around. People don't really struggle. And Christians always "own" their atheist...

On being an endangered species of an endangered species

We'll see. By the way, my interests are not naturally inclined toward ministry, but art. And not "Christian" art either. Nothing immoral, but I now kinda distrust Christian movies and things like that because of their implicit agenda.

I fear God more than I do love Him

I said it would seem like from our limited point of view that he would be letting us down. A lot of people in the bible certainly felt that way, regardless of whether or not they knew their point of view is limited.

I fear God more than I do love Him

Regardless of whether or not you love somebody, they will always let you down in the end. Even God will disappoint us and let us down, at least from our point of view. So why bother with people when all they bring with them is baggage and selfishness?

He also says, "If you love me, you will obey my commands."

I fear God more than I do love Him

For the record everyone, I didn't become a Christian to be happy. In fact, it's the last religion I'd recommend if you want to be happy. I don't think I can truly be happy as a Christian, but I became a Christian cause it's the right thing to do, and that should be good enough. I often feel...

I fear God more than I do love Him

I'm not asking you to piece it together for me. And that's another thing. Do I really want to live forever? Not that I want to cease to exist either, but I'm a finite being and can't comprehend something like eternity. The journey is often the reward, but sooner or later you have to get to the...

I fear God more than I do love Him

My point is, I've never experienced a perfect world. When I'm so used to living in a broken world where things and people often come to an end, how can I really imagine a perfect world? Ironically, it's those things that make us treasure the good, and our loved ones, and other things we find...

I fear God more than I do love Him

I would say so, but not even Christians can agree whether or not free will is actually a thing.

I fear God more than I do love Him

Aren't free will and choice the same?

I fear God more than I do love Him

In response to your first question, yes. But God also gives us free will.

I fear God more than I do love Him

I thought we were supposed to rely on faith, not on feelings. It's great that you're excited, but I can't say I am unfortunately. For me personally, trying to imagine a world without sickness, death, or fear is like trying to imagine color if you've been blind all your life, or music if you've...

The problem is, if I don't ever marry, what am I supposed to do? Just be a cheerleader for married people and live alone?

I fear God more than I do love Him

I'm a Christian. I've been raised a Christian all my life so I of all people should know a ton about God. Problem is, I've been a Christian for 8 years, and no matter what I did and how hard I tried, I've never truly been able to love God. If anything, he terrifies me. I know he loves me, but...

On being an endangered species of an endangered species

Thing is I've noticed that the church bemoans how sexualized our society has become, and it makes me want to say to them, "You do the exact same thing, just in a different way." That being constantly putting marriage and the nuclear family on a pedestal. Must every pastor be married? If so...

On being an endangered species of an endangered species

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'll do my best to answer all the issues raised in your posts. Something I've left out is that I'm on the spectrum, high-functioning. I view the world differently than others in just about every area of life, including relationships and faith. As a result, I...
