What if someone argued that the Holy Spirit applied the Gospel to the ‘elect’ thus giving them new birth/life.

I guess man‚s will is stronger than God’s will, since God desires all to be saved but His will is thwarted by man‘s ‘free will‘ in his refusal.

I use the KJV because I trust the body of manuscripts it is based on. I like the easier reading translations (ESV/NKJV/NASB etc.) but have a hard time trusting them to be as true to the original manuscripts. That's just me, your mileage may vary.
