I cannot understand the need for the crucifixion-and i think it’s holding my Christian life back

Great question! I am of the same mind as you on this. God is God and he can do whatever he wants, the way he wants. I have asked this question repeatedly over the years: "Why was it necessary to sacrifice the son of God?" But I never found a logical answer. God could teach, judge and forgive us...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Yes! 16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” 17 So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to Him, “Which...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Great theologians have always said that and that is what I have believed for some 30 years. We are all led to believe that Jesus' words always take precedence over Paul's because the King is infinetely greatear than the apostle. Some 4 years ago, however, I started watching videos like the one...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Do you obey the scribes and Pharisees as the earthly Jesus commanded the Jews or do you follow Paul (Jesus' spokesman after the ressurrection) who says we are not under the law? Have you already given away all your properties as Jesus commanded the Jews or do you follow Paul who says that...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Adultery has always been a serious sin (according to Moses, to Jesus and to Paul). The difference is that, according to Jesus' interpretation of the law, if you just look you are an adulterer.

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Jesus said that looking at a woman is just as serious as doing the deeds of adultery, but Paul doesn't mention "looking at a woman" -- he says that only those who commit physical adultery will not enter heaven. If you believe that Paul's law = Moses' law, than you'll not be saved. But don't...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Healing depends on faith, not on having perfect works. Jesus was showing what would be necessary to be saved by the Law so that the disciples realized how impossible it was. Only after the cross Jesus would reveal the way to salvation (by grace through faith).

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Neither have I heard that Jesus' teaching about adultery is no longer valid -- Paul confirmed them in the epistles. Yes, you are right: Moses didn't say that husbands who look at other women are already committing adultery, but Jesus said that because he was perfecting the law of Moses. To be...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

You are absolutely correct! Adulterers, fornicators, and practicing homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God. If you, however, look at a woman other than your spouse with sexual desire, but change your mind soon enough you will not be counted as an adulterer. Jesus said (before the...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Jesus chose Paul to be his spokesperson. If do what Paul says you are following Christ. If you do what Jesus said before the cross you are following Moses.

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

Maybe you want to know if I think that the gospels are really gospels (good news). Well, I think that without the other NT books the gospels are actually "bad news". The gospels demand perfection whereas the epistles are more tolerant (but not completely as many pastors preach), because they...

Is the teaching of Jesus before His crucifixion only for Jews?

That's correct: not all New Testament is for Christians. When Jesus told his disciples to obey the scribes and Pharisees, He had in mind only the Jews because they were still under the law of Moses. He didn't have in mind the Christians He had in mind only the Jews because they were still...
