Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

Your explanation is weak, to say the least. You're trying to make your case using a 400-year-old translation instead of a modern translation. You're ignoring the relevant biblical facts that no apostle taught or even hinted that living Christians should talk to dead Christians instead of...

How can singles do the Lord's work?

I wonder, among whom it is generally agreed that singles have more time? Among the married folks? I think it's hogwash. Any expectation built on a general assumption is bound to fail miserably or cause a lot of hurt. Why would singles have more time? I have to do all the shopping, cooking...

    1 kings 13

That's part of the lesson of this story. The other part, of course, is to seek your own direction from the Lord, and not to seek direction through others. The words of others should confirm what we are already hearing for ourselves. The exception is when we cannot hear for some reason, which...

The absurdity and heresy of Preterism

Okay, if you want to be silly, I'm done with you. You don't get to toss out groundless insults and then shi(f)t blame onto me for it.

    Author's intent hermeneutic

Yes, the Holy Spirit is telling all Christians the same thing. If you're hearing a message contradictory to what other Christians are hearing (and it's a doctrinal matter rather than a personal matter), either they aren't hearing the Holy Spirit, or you aren't.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

According to your own statements here, a better translation is simply "graced", as in "Greetings, graced woman". Taking the name of a verb tense ("... perfect") and attributing perfection to the object is a fallacy of equivocation.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

Actually, it isn't. Properly understanding a doctrine just gives the disagreement greater logical validity.

    Assertion without evidence.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

The next trope of course is that according to Catholics, only the Catholic church is authorized and empowered to interpret Scripture, hence the ultimate circular logic.

Keep your silly comments to yourself. There's no need to make this personal.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

You're right; shouting (by itself) proves nothing. However, you're standing on thin air. Like I said, weasel words.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

Since there is ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS in Scripture of such a fantasy, it is unbiblical. It doesn't need to "contradict" Scripture for it to qualify as hogwash. Even the phrase, "original sin" doesn't appear in Scripture, again allowing the Catholics to weasel out of the allegation. However, the...

WHAT IS SOON TO COME TO PASS IN THIS WORLD - BIBLE PROPHECY

Miss the point much? You need to show what the bad fruit of preterism is, not simply declare it as bad fruit. I can make the same claim about futurism, with the same logical validity. None of the posts have "proven" that preterism is a heresy. That's an opinion only; one that I find laughable...

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

Here's a simple point of logic: where there is no evidence period of an idea, one need not present evidence contradictory to that idea. Your claim is empty, and since you made no attempt to provide the "right" understanding of "immaculate conception", you have no claim on which to stand.

The absurdity and heresy of Preterism

One does not win a debate with bluster, insults, and derision, nor with mere claims of victory. This never was a battle; it was a discussion founded on deep bias, fallacy, and outright error.

Re: Thread On Catholic And Other Religions

Another thing; the Catholics hold to a different set of books as "scripture" so we don't even agree on that.

WHAT IS SOON TO COME TO PASS IN THIS WORLD - BIBLE PROPHECY

There you go with the black-and-white thinking, ascribing folly to me because you think you understand how I think. I assure you; you don't know anywhere near enough about me to even hint. You seem to have trouble considering different views without demeaning those who hold them. Do you honestly...
