Christian Chat is losing its focus. We are to be a light to those who do not believe?
I understand the need for socialization and communicating with friends but what made
this room different from all the other secular chat rooms was that it was Christ centered.
Some have shared that they have seen individuals come in seeking Christ's wisdom and
were ignored. I personally mentioned something about God and was told to go to
the bible study room. There are often very few if any people in the bible study room and there should be no need to go to another room to talk about the Lord.

I really don'tknow what about the room isn't "Christ centered". We try to keep it clean and fun and for Jesus. Just because there isn't wall to wall talk about Jesus doesn't mean Christ isn't the center. It just means there is talk going on that is clean and fun. I think the fact that chat most of the time is clean and fun, indicates this is a Christ centered chat.

There are often very few if any people in the bible study room and there should be no need to go to another room to talk about the Lord

Often in the lounge you'll have a handful of people talking about Bible stuff as the rest kind of get left out, so they are asked to go to Bible Study.. I don't see why it's such a big offense to be asked to take it to the Bible Study room. You're not being told to cease talking about God. You're not being told to shut up. All you're being asked to do is take it to another room.

The Lounge is for 'lounging'. The Bible Study room is for Bible Study. Shoot, the fact there is a Bible Study and Prayer room indicates this site is Christ centered!

On another note, as a mod, I've tried to cater to those who come in here with their "concerns" about the site's "spirituality". In the past when I've seen those people I'll send out a server message saying hey lets pray or worship or have a Bible study in such and such room.

You wanna know what ALWAYS happens? Those with the "concerns" NEVER come and participate!

So I guess just from past experience I kind of roll my eyes when people talk about this site's lack of spirituality. Usually those with the concerns are just here to complain. Because like I said, when they're given the opportunity to be 'spiritual' they never participate.

Another thing, people claim to see people come in and ask for ministering to or advice on God, and they don't get recognized. I can't say I've ever seen this happen and I spend much time in the room.

I do know we get people who come in the room and are just seeking attention, so they manufacture a crisis just to get attention. Maybe you saw one of our resident attention seekers asking for help and not getting it.

I'm sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but that's been my experience in this chat. We are not failing to be Christ centered at all. People come here for fun, Jesus centered fellowship.

People who WANT help should not be ignored, but sometimes Christians need to stop focusing so much on saving the lost and think about building one another up and simply worshiping. Our churches need satisfied Christians more than bigger crowds. Our love for one another is the message of our authenticity.

I think by far this is the best christian chat site out there thats actually focused on Christ. I've learned a WHOLE lot on here about the bible and its awesome to get sooo many different view points though i may not agree with all of them. But it still interesting to hear why people believe what they believe. But yeah i dont plan to ever leave the site! Its just too AWESOME not to stay! I mean we all know i have a problem with leaving anyways.... so yeah dont think i could leave CC forever if i cant leave for a few hours! hahaha

1still_waters I'm a HUGE Ron Paul fan myself!!!!!hehe....sorry off topic I know........

I'll add something......In the blogosphere/chat cyberworld its a lot different than knowing the person face to face......One's expectations will likely be different than another's......It can be a very tricky thing trying to communicate online, and some taking something as an offense can also mean others take no offense.....The "perfect picture" of how "chat" should be, will and often times is much different than someone else's "expectations"......Bundle that all together and we get a lot of differences in preferance.......Focus on the good and be thankful that we can actually express ourselves at all on a Christian forum!!!hehe....God bless!

Jessiejo1978....thanks for shareing. Opinions can never be wrong. Thanks for shareing yours. I know others have had observations about the room that have made it appear *not Christ centered* to them. Specifically excessive flirting...and talking about the opposite sex with words that would be deemed sexist or cause a new christian or a christrian who struggles with such issues to stumble or get the wrong idea about Christianity. (such as referring to another member as *hot* or *sexy*)
Anyway...good discussion topic. :)

In my opinion it's a tight line to walk between legalism and freedom. There are certain words that are clearly just wrong to use and will reflect badly on Christians. On the other hand there are some words that are just kind of in between. Not really good and not really bad.

I guess we just have to be careful of imposing any legalistic beliefs on things that aren't clearly 'wrong'. On the other hand there should probably be a consideration made for those who find certain words wrong, even though they aren't intrinsically wrong.

But that's just my opinion.

Legalism aside.....(cause I was not speaking of anyone that I consider legalistic)....I was speaking of non-Christians, new Christians, or Christians who struggle and could use such things they observe to *justify* their behavior, etc.
AND...after I have thought about it some more....there are quite a few 13-14 year olds that frequent the room(s)....and although I do believe that parents should be monitoring ALL that their children are involved in....that is not always the case. That is just another demographic that I did not consider before.

Roaringkitten...I did not want to ignore what you wrote either. You made some good points and were very respectful about it. We do need to take the good...and realize that there will be some *bad*. It is all a matter of perspective as you said. Having a site that is Christian based is what is most important. :)

I come into CC for christian fellowship.. I rub shoulders with sinners all the time.. Including alot of family members.. I am so grateful that I can come into CC and have some good clean fun with fellow Christians.. If someone ask for pray and I see it, I always send up a prayer and sometimes have even prayered for them openly on the mic if I feel the spirit pulling me to.. I have no problem with serious confersation either. I have been invovled in a fews of them myself..I have been asked to move to another room by mods before.. And I do it.. I well ask whom ever I am talking to to join me .. No big deal.. I just think we have such a great place to chat and we need to make the best use of it.. I mean how many other sites offer so many different rooms to chat in trying to meet everyones needs.. I am just glad that we have such great Mods.. I know I would not want their job.. They have a big task and can't pllease us all, all the time.. Anyhow.. Let have good clean Christian fun.. I mean non christians need to know Christian are human too and can have fun too.. well that is my five cents worth.. lol
