Hi I am deaf, and I would like to propose a no mic room where mic is not allowed. Maybe you could add a room name deaf chat room for Christian, or no mic room for people that doesn't want mic, or hear people using mic, and just rather type instead of hearing mic.

Honestly being deaf it's frustrated when people are using mic, and you have no idea what people is saying it's not fair so I think it's a good idea to have a room that have mic disable.

I don't frequent the chat rooms but your request sounds like a reasonable accommodation for the healing impaired.

That is what the forums are for :) There are quite a few threads where people just hang out and chat back and forth about whatever is going on in their lives, their interests, cares, and concerns. You may find some of them in the Singles Forum, mostly. Hang out for a while in any number of threads and people will come to know you :)

Are you serious? This sound like discriminated, and do I need to call the American disability act on you?

How do you see a chat room with no mic as being different from the forum threads where there is no mic?

Phone Number of American Disability Act is 800-514-0301

American disability act is no joke you don't want to mess with them they fine people like crazy, and this is why you don't see handicap parking, and ramp missing in every business, and trust me you don't want to deal with them when they decided to take action.

I think this is wrong to force deaf people to use the forum when they can't enjoy a live chat room, and my suggestion is very fair, and it goes for everybody, and not everybody have speaker, or mic, and even the deaf is being left alone, and this is straight up discriminated if the deaf cannot have room that have mic disable.

I think that is very rude for deaf people to use live chat room that they cannot hear half of the people, or understand what is going on, and I think my suggestion is very fair, and good not just for the deaf it's for the majority if they wish not to hear people using mic.

You are asking for a room with no mic. The forum threads are just that. There are thousands of them :)

I am not satisfied using the forum, and we deaf people love live chat, and wouldn't it be discriminated, and selfish to force deaf people to use the forum instead of Christian chat room just because you can hear doesn't mean the deaf can't use the chat room unfairly.

Why can't you, or we be at least considerate for the handicap, or for people that have no interest in hearing Mic?

I speak for all I am pretty sure many people would love to have a room that has no mic, and deaf people would flock in there, and many as well that have no interest from mic, and I believe my suggestion is the least discriminated suggestion.

I can understand wanting a no mic room. There have been times I haven't been able to use the mic because of the situation I am in. You can't be nearly as involved in the conversation. People on mic tend to ignore or not keep up with people typing. If there was a room with no mic, for those who can't use the mic, the conversation would be a lot more entertaining and meaningful.

Also, I don't see the forums as a suitable alternative. It is very different from live chat. Live chat is more instant. Live chat is a quickly moving conversation. Forum chat could take 5 hours to get a response.

Since you're deaf anyway, you wouldn't even be able to HEAR the mic... And people who CAN hear need only to turn their speakers down, off or on mute if they wish to not hear people on mic..

Thank you so much for participating, and I honestly believe many people will be thankful that we have a no mic room, and you have no idea how stressful it is to be in a room that people are using mic especially if you cannot hear them, and you are right the room would be so much funner if people do not use a mic, and I think this suggestion of having a no mic room is an excellent suggestion.

If you like the live chat, then just why not type and post responses to everyone else like you do here??

Well it's not fair if you can hear and everybody listening, and even if you mute, or turn it down while everybody is silently listening to the person talking to a mic, and you're all alone wondering what they are saying, and you're by yourselves, and typing, but the people is ignoring you, and even if you wanted to hear what they say you end up asking people to interpreted for you what they are saying on the mic, and it's very annoying.

That's precisely why I don't go into the chat rooms. As Sonflower said, they tend to ignore you if you ask a question..

I'm not asking for much as a deaf person all I am asking for is a no mic room for the deaf, or for people that have no interest in mic, and I think it's a great suggestion, and the least discriminated suggestion for the majority not just for the deaf.

This is a non argument debate, and those that want to argue against that are discriminated against the deaf, and could face American disability act for not having an interpreter, and or close caption for the one using a mic.

Do you know that multi-tasking is a myth? It is impossible for me to watch a written conversation unfold in real time while I am trying to keep the focus of my thinking clear enough to speak intelligibly on another subject, or even listen effectively. In today's day and age, with all our digital devices, attention deficit is a real problem. People end up in the middle of a street staring at their cell phone, and they have no idea where they are or how they got there.

Deaf people don't need a no-mike room, since they can't hear anyone on the mike anyway.. And once again, for those who can hear, if they aren't interested on listening to the mike, then they need only mute their speakers..

I think a more viable solution would be to have a program that can close-caption.. Surely there must be a program somewhere that you can download to your computer, and have it close caption for you..

Right ADA law require close caption, and or interpreter, but it may be ok if there is a room with no mic for the deaf, and that why I am asking for a no mic room so I can go in there instead of other room with people using mic, but if they have close caption for the mic then maybe it'll be ok.

Years ago we had a specific room for text only chat. We closed it down because it was one of the rooms that was perpetually empty. It is highly unlikely that such a room would ever be created again for that same reason. If the room existed you would be sitting in there all by yourself with no one to chat with.

I'd gladly be in that room 24/7. If it can be done then it doesn't hurt doing it again, and I honestly find it super frustrated being in a room with people using Mic just saying Yes, Yes, Yes over, and over again, and again when I have no idea what anybody is saying.

So why don't y'all do it again, but this time just type room for the deaf, or deaf chat room.
