Hi, I started to watch Anime in 6th grade through 9th grade while reading manga. I noticed last summer I have been experience several sleep paralyzed because I was spending more time on reading romantic shojou manga online instead of reading my bible or praying to God. I guess I was kind of opening door Satan which I didn't realize yet. I remember in one of my sleep paralyze attack that I was somewhere in a dark red place. I couldn't move or yelled instead stay still. I saw a black figure infront of me repeatedly hurting me with ax painfully. I could feel my body and heart beating fast. I literally thought at that moment I was going to die :(
I don't honestly recommend Christian to watch Anime even though it for entertainment:

1. It can cause many people to have addiction or idol in their life.

2. Anime has their own God and belief which they worshipped their God at the shrine

3. The Anime girl cause older men or younger boy to be attractive them because of their appearance even though they don't dress modesty instead wear short skirt.

Anime is democratic? Care to explain?

Anything in life can become an addiction or idol. That does not make the object bad, it is more of a reflection of the heart and attitude of the one Making it so important in their lives.

If anime has their own god it would be god, small g, not God, big g. God, big g is only a reference to the one true and holy God of the bible.
Anime is composed of countless series and characters. Are you insinuating that ALL anime characters worship the exact some god, among all the 1000's of existing series? And that they all go to the same shrine to worship this god?

Much anime and manga has always had a reputation for sexuality. It is, after all, originally meant for adults and not children.

Are you originally from America? Because the way you structure your sentences and your wording sounds more like someone from another country.

Sleep paralysis is a scientifically understandable problem. Your body enters a level of paralysis during certain portions of sleep. Some people can wake up during this paralysis. Hallucinations have been reported but are quite rare. There are even changes you can make that help reduce the chances of sleep paralysis, and none of them include dealing with demons. Make sure you get good sleep, at least 6-8 hours worth daily. On a regular sleep schedule. Leg cramps can also be a cause, as well as untreated mental illness.

Chances that your hallucinations are connected to the anime/manga are slim. The biggest problem i see is that you let your interest in it grow too large. You haven't really tied any of this together in an explainable fashion. You just took two separate topics and tried to smoosh them together as if they are somehow related, but never making a clear distinction that they are related, or how they could be.

I'm so sorry if my english is to terrible for you to understand. I should've know better to edit my post. I respect your opinion however there are things that I disagree with your reasoning.

1. So your saying it ok to have anime in your life as an addiction and idols? Even though many otaku are struggling to overcomer their obsession with anime and manga including pedophile.

1 John 2:15

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone love the world, love for the Father is not in them.

2. You do realize that anime were created by Japanese and it contain Japanese culture. You don't even know what is the creator beliefs in the anime. In Japan their main belief is either Shinto or Buddhism not Christianity.

Exodous 34:14:

Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

3. My hallucinations with anime are a slim huh? Hallucinations are demonic which are evil spirit. In sleep paralyzed many people are aware in their sleep that hallucinations which is the demons are attacking them. Like I said what have I been doing in 6-9th grade? I was only watching Anime and reading manga. Which I place them as idol not putting God first instead allowing Satan attack me by opening a door for him. Resulting me to have sleeping paralyzed.

James 4:17 Sumbit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 4:27
And do not give the devil an opportunity

It is demonic. Many are not aware of the spirit behind this . You did open a door. The things you experienced definitely could have been works of the enemy. God will allow this kind of thing to teach us. Just repent of it and seek Jesus.

Blessings

The Lord has led you into his understanding. Praise Jesus that he loves you so much that he pulled you out of this error.

Seems to me that this post of your is written by someone who has had very little, if any experience with anime. So forgive me if I don't believe you, Jack.

Something to do with her profile stating she is in America and has American heritage, yet doesn't speak like someone who is a native American? So my question is valid. I'm well aware it's an international site, after all i have been on the site since 2011, and if i question someone on if they're from America there's a reasons for it. All of this was pretty easy to learn for yourself if you took a few seconds.

Im not trying to be argumentative. Im only extending the benefit of the doubt. It would be better to ask if she was native because you cannot garner that from a profile. My friend just joined the other day and accidentally selected armenia instead of united states. I have no idea how she missed it but that is just a fine example of a mistake given and extending grace. There are people in the states that do not speak or write fluent english even if they have been here 30 yrs! I have experienced this. Its better to ask questions before we cast doubt. Just sayin

1 John 2:15

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone love the world, love for the Father is not in them.

That is not even close, not even a little, to what i said. You have completely twisted and mangled what i said. What i said is that Anything (meaning things other than manga/anime) can become idols or addictions. TV. Coffee. Internet. Cars. Jobs. People. The Then i went on to state that it is illogical to state that anime/mange is evil because it can be addicting. Because that would mean everything is evil.
I clearly stated the issue is not in the object of addiction/becoming an idol, the problem is with the individual that lifts those things up to that status. Meaning the problem is in you, not in anime/manga.
Please show me where i said having idols and addictions were acceptable. Point that out in my previous post.

Do you watch movies? Ever listen to non-Christian music? TV shows? Because even those that are American are not made by people whose main belief is Christianity. And since music, tv's and movies are typically made by non-Christians, and can easily become idols/addictions i hope that you have fully demonized and excluded them 100% out of your life as well.
Are all the websites you visit Christian owned, operated and based? If not then you don't know what the beliefs are of those that create and maintain it. How many other areas of your life come from people who are not Christians?
If i involve myself in something created by someone who is not Christian that does not mean i worship another God.

3. My hallucinations with anime are a slim huh? Hallucinations are demonic which are evil spirit. James 4:17 Sumbit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

If you're going to provide scripture please keep it in context and relevant. So where is scripture showing that hallucinations are demonic? That would be a relevant scripture.
I hear you talk about things, as if you have any knowledge. I suppose my well respected source that references studies and have medical evidences showing the the chemical processes that take place mean nothing, because you say that 'many people know'. How do they know? Who are these people? Can you have them show me the evidences of how they know this? Because the trained medical professional that have researched and studied it and gather more data, to me, have a better understanding than some kid who does a poor job at speaking english and supporting her statements with anything more than her opinion and broad statements about others. Not to mention an inability to understand the arguments of others, as you did so badly in question number 1. Or that poorly uses scripture.

Ephesians 4:27
And do not give the devil an opportunity
You can throw in all the scripture you want, but that doesn't make you right, especially if the scripture is misapplied. Fact is you brought not a single bit of evidence and only spoke out of opinion. And then backed that up with more opinion. So far you have not given me one reason to even stop and consider anything you have said as valid.

Uhh... if you recall i did ask. I then offered an explanation as to why i asked. So what exactly is the horrible judgment i've passed onto her? I asked. And, i'll note, she did not answer.
So i ask, explain why i'm asking, then you get on my case for not giving the benefit of the doubt (which if that were true i wouldn't have asked at all, just declared that i knew without asking), then say you aren't being argumentative.

I did nothing wrong. I had a question in my head and i voiced it to find out if what was in my head was true or not. You criticized me for that. You Are being argumentative. Don't believe me? Here is my original question, copy/pasted exactly as i said it...

Are you originally from America? Because the way you structure your sentences and your wording sounds more like someone from another country.

See how i asked a question? Very first part? 'Are you originally from America?'. See. A question. And you say to me...

Its better to ask questions before we cast doubt.
Hmm... i see me asking a question. Then i see you scolding me for not asking, or scolding me because i asked? But you scold me because i asked, by telling me i should ask? Oh no. You're not being argumentative at all. Totally reasonable there. Really. Not at all trolling.

Hmmm...
I like anime and read manga since a little kid.. I stop to watching anime because it took lot of my time with God (and i dont feel peace too when watching some certain anime).. But not all anime or manga are bad.. there are some about daily life, sports, etc.. not all are bad.. have you ever know sweet fuku fuku (about cat), sentaro (rabbit), hamtaro (hamster) they're a good example.. and kuroko basketball, silver spoon and others too..

I admit there are bunch BAD manga and anime too.. they will advertising about sex, tarot, black magic, gay, lucifer, some weird symbols, etc as their main story and character..(sometimes we dont even realize it).
The worst anime i ever watched is cross ange.. i dont even know its a yuri anime! (i never read the summary/categories of that anime) i wonder why that kind of anime exist! yuri and yaoi just makes me sick! ugh.. (sorry if i offend someone).. Then i stop! i dont know which one is good or bad.. its like trying to search needle on grass..
Besides i dont want to fill my mind with anime, its better to fill it with God's words (not trying to sound like a fanatic here.. lol)

But not all anime are bad.. I stop because i was addicted into anime and it took lot of my time away and i cant choose which one is good and not good to watch then i stop..
even sometimes i still have the urge to watch it.. hohoho T_T

Dont say anime are evil because not all anime (and manga) are evil :)

Why does it matter to you if I'm American or not?? This argument isn't even worth to argue after all it clearly show you don't respect other people opinions instead you either criticize or judge other. Learn to be more humble.

First of all I don't have to give you any reason or explanation. If you want to watch Anime go ahead it your choice not mine. After all you already know what is good and what is evil in this world.

blessings Family :) I quickly picked this thread as my son watches lots of anime...I was curious what our christian family had thoughts in re: It of course seems much larger then I had thought... so some ok some not ok. This is a really neet chat sit here at CC.com I like that people feel they can communicate whats on there minds...Family can have its good days and frustration and Passion and praise an still be loving..I am glad when I here the Lord is changing people...The scripture that comes to mind is when “Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:16 that the body of Christ actually grows and builds itself up in love and maturity as each part does its work properly. I am a happy sister and my prayers are that we find reason to rejoice at the renewing of our minds and spirits each day as we grow closer in our image of our Loving King ..Shalom <><

When you asked did you wait for a reply? Not before you criticized her writing skills and questioned her legitimacy of living here in the states .. That is what I was referring to. You casted doubt right off the bat. You FOUND FAULT rather than extending some grace. I dont know how much more simply I can explain this to you.

Your reply dictates you did not understand what I was getting at. In fact, you just said you waited for a reply but you didnt! LOL Which btw, I liked her response to you. She did reply to you!

And, i'll note, she did not answer.
She is correct in her understanding of the japanesse culture knit with buddism and shinto religions which are of the occult. This is something you obviously know nothing about! She also went on to post some scripture and then you felt self righteous AGAIN to criticize what scripture she posted. I understood the context. Why didnt you?

Then you go on to accuse me of lying because I said I dont want to be argumentative. I was trying to show you where you were unfair. In fact I extended grace to you because you picked her whole post apart! You left nothing unscathed. She is brand new to the site and you did a fine job of welcoming her!! You are rude.

I pray you learn to choose your words more carefully. Perhaps the next time you have a question in your head, you will keep it in your head:p
Im done here.

Seeing as you posted this in Testimony, congratulations on your freedom! I've read manga and watched anime on and off the past.. um.. 8 years? It was only very recently that I completely left it. Anime and manga itself aren't evil, but if it causes us to stumble, we "pluck it out for it is better for us to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into fire." It's not something easy though. Especially if it's been a part of your life. I hope you're finding help and accountability as you go through this. <3
