We were new to the little town, and we chose to attend a small Protestant church that used a modified
older home as the sanctuary. As the church grew, we really needed a larger building, and so a committee
was chosen to study the matter. One day the members were invited to attend a meeting to decide what to do.
This is what happened.

The committee told us that there were too few members for us to build a new building, and we had little money.
We discussed it, and then a little older lady seated in front of me, asked to speak. She told us that we needed that new
building, and God wanted us to build it, and we were going to build it. We were to build it on faith.

To me, I listened to her, and I knew deep in my spirit that she was right, and we must build that new sanctuary.
I voted for it, and so did every other member there, even the members of the committee that had urged us to
vote no! We arranged to pay for it with bonds that we sold, that would not be called in until some years later, and by then
we would have more members and more money hopefully. But at first even after the building was built, there was very little
money, and few members. Our pastor had to move out of state, and so we advertised for a new pastor.

One day a candidate came for a test sermon. He was a good speaker, but he had never been a pastor before.
He told us that his father had been a fine pastor, but he had begun his first job at a large secular business.
Every day after work he would stop in at his favorite bar for a drink, and then go home to his wife.
Well, he told us that one day he arrived at the bar, and sat down, and someone whispered in his ear this:
"This place is not for you." A hand touched his elbow, and helped to stand him up, and guide him towards the door.
He looked to see who had whispered to him, but there was no one there. Amazed, he walked out that door for the last time.
After this he began classes to become a pastor in our denomination. His wife did not want to be married to a pastor, and she
divorced him. Then he married a very Christian lady, and here he was at our church ready to be pastor.

I could not believe we would vote for him, but we did, even me!

He was a great speaker, and a great Christian, and he attracted tons of new members. The new members brought in
money, and soon we paid the bills, and a few years later we built a new addition on that new church. It
was a gym for the young people, and fellowship hall also, and at first they used it for him to give sermons in.
Faith had been rewarded. Thanks to Jesus!

Interesting testimony.

Are the sick being healed in your "new" church building, are people getting their burdens lifted, are people getting set free from addictions?

Is the Lord present in Power in your "new" church building, for if He isn't, your "new" church building is worthless, the "Church" IS The Body of Christ, not a pile of brick and mortar?

jb,

This was years ago, and our new pastor and his wife were wonderful, but years ago they left, and there were changes to our church again.
Our denomination was always conservative, and it was not into healing. Why? I don't know. I taught Sunday School there
for years, with a fine co-teacher, and I taught the kids examples of people being healed, and the wonders that the Lord accomplished
when intercessory prayers were made. It caused some resistance, but we also had support in the church. Eventually when my co-teacher
left his position...I was removed, mostly for the healing I taught I expect. But then I really got into healing! Thank you Jesus for those helped, and for those totally healed! But the "new" pastor that I wrote about here was one more supportive of intercessory prayers!

Thanks to God! Thanks to Jesus! Thanks to the Holy Spirit!

It is a process, "line upon line, precept upon precept" as we grow in Him.
Thank you for this testimony of how He has worked you these lives and in this church.
