P4T, the OP is from Canada. As I said already, we have our own particular kind of politics. Americans think universal health care is socialist and will bring about the collapse of America. And it well may! But in Canada, there is not a person who would go to completely private. The system has its faults, no one would disagree, but it works well for us. No one in Canada goes bankrupt because of a health crisis. Health Care is free! Although, a lot of our government spending goes directly to health care.

Which is part of our problem. Any rational Canadian know we are living in the shadow of the United States. That means economically - your economy booms, so does ours. Entertainment - we watch mostly American shows, and on American networks. Defense - this is the biggest area!

We are a tiny country population-wise! I think 36 million right now. Almost 1/10th the size of the US. But arena wise, only Russia is bigger. How do you defend so much space with so few people? Well, we depend on the US. We cooperate with the US. Northern defence systems for the US are in Canada. Because if some country lobs a missle at you, it will likely go through us, first. We depend on NATO, which is mostly helped by US money and military.

My take on the article was - if something happens to the USA - implosion, economic collapse and ruin, civil war, outside attacks, etc - then what happens to a Canada that prides itself on being a sovereign nation, while being dependent on the US for defence and other things? What will Canada do if the US falls?

Unless a Canadian is delusional or lives under a rock, these are huge issues for us. We do not have a "socialist" economy, we have a mixed economy, and rely heavily on business - small and large, to keep our economy going. Then you get an idiot like Trudeau 2.0, who wants to make us part of the Caliphate, bringing in thousands of Muslims, repatriating people that left the country to fight FOR Isis, plus socializing us more, feminizing us more, and offending Trump with his idiocy about including LBGTQ and indigenous rights in free trade, and you have a recipe for disaster.

The US and Canada have been close friends since the War of 1812. (You know, the one where we won, and burned down the White House - LOL!) We have the longest undefended border in the world. (Which a lot of people with Visas in to the US walked across in the hope of becoming Canadian, because Trudeau invited them!).

What would we do without the US? For now, I think we need to pray America will continue to thrive, that righteousness will return by the will of God, and that we will continue to be friends, and defend the US, as much as a pittance as we contribute.

That is my take on it, anyway!
If you are trying to claim Canadians won the 1812 War you would be delusional.
One pyro stunt wasn't the War or all of the five battles My Uncle kicked General Drummonds panzy Fanny in and the Canadians were cowards and wouldn't fight for their Independence !!!
Nothing to be proud of I assure you my Uncle the hero of that war Commanding Major Jacob Jennings Brown The Sword of the Border. and Commander of the Army of the Niagara invaded Canada and the people wouldn't fight for their own independence so he left!!! If we had lost the war I seriously doubt the US Congress would have awarded him the 24th Congressional Gold Medal
Here feast your eyes on it. Please do not insult my family! 0103192030.jpg
