Sue Monk Kidd is a woman who went from being a Southern Baptist Sunday School teacher to becoming a pagan goddess worshiper. Because she has written many books with her weird ideas, she is influencing many people towards New Age Religion and apostasy.

The real problem is that evangelical Christians are supporting her and endorsing her writings. Among them are David Jeremiah, The Gaithers, Richard Foster, Philip Yancy, Dallas Willard, and Henri Nouwen. Which means that Christians will be subjected to false teachings through these endorsements. Many evangelical churches are adopting the Roman Catholic idea of contemplative prayer, but the end result can be total apostasy, as seen in the evolution of Monk Kidd.

This false teacher began flirting with Catholic mysticism, was influenced by Roman Catholic writer Thomas Merton (and other Catholic writers), and ended up by worshipping the pagan Goddess Skoteini, Goddess of the Dark.

What are some of the beliefs that she has -- and is promoting -- as revealed in her own writings?

· Worship of the Goddess Skoteini, with an altar in her home including the Black Madonna
· A “Divine Mother” can save the world
· Believing that she herself is the embodiment of “Goddess”
· Reuniting with “the snake in myself”
· Willingness to sacrifice her marriage for this false spirituality
· Acceptance of Radical Feminism and “Feminist Spirituality”
· Jungian dream analysis and visitations from the “Feminist Self”
· Rejection of the Bible as the final authority for faith and practice (through a demonic visitation)
· Rejection of the Bible doctrine regarding the roles of men and women (including condemnation of biblical patriarchy)
· Rejection of God the Father:
“I knew right then and there that the patriarchal church was no longer working for me. The exclusive image of God as heavenly Father wasn’t working, either. I needed a Power of Being that was also feminine (The Dance of the Dissident Daughter, p. 80).
· Misuse of Scripture to teach false doctrines
· Acceptance of the Catholic Mass as valid
· Practice of Catholic “Contemplative Spirituality”
· God can only be experienced through “Mystical Intuition” (which can also be demonic delusion)
· Following “the heart” instead of proving all things by the Word of God
· Eating the forbidden fruit “opened Eve’s eyes to her true self”
· The natural man has “divinity” within himself (Eastern religions)
· Pantheism
· The Serpent in Eden was not evil but “symbolized female wisdom, power, and regeneration”

It is evident that this is total apostasy. Therefore Christians should beware of her books and warn others about the spiritual poison that she is promoting. Some of the book titles are “God’s Joyful Surprise”, “When the Heart Waits”, “The Secret Life of Bees”, “The Mermaid Chair”, and “The Dance of the Dissident Daughter”.
