Does the below American Express commercial (Too Comfortable) have blatant misandry and misogyny?
Why is the victim a helpless woman?
Why is the victimizer portrayed as a bearded man?

Are women supposed to be the only ones in need of rescue from a credit card?
Is it always the men who are doing the victimizing of poor helpless women?

Why isn't a woman portrayed as the one doing the criminal activity?
Why isn't a man being portrayed as the one needing rescue?

Is American Express appealing to commonly held fears and stereotypes?

*rolls eyes at this post

Why is it if a woman is portrayed in a certain light its because men are evil? Both men and women are portrayed as victims anymore. Isolating one commercial is just blowing things out of proportion.

There was no victim, actually. And therefore no one perpetrating anything against her. She made a purchase on her own laptop, got a message asking her to verify it. No victims. No criminals.

I have an additional comment that i'll keep to myself as to not start a war with anyone on here.

Fear is just part of advertising.

The people making commercials don't care about what light women are portrayed in, or what light men are portrayed in, or anything else. They only have one agenda, and that is to sell the product. Fear works.
