The Christian owners of a Northern Ireland bakery have won their appeal
in the so-called "gay cake" discrimination case.

The UK's highest court ruled that Ashers bakery's refusal to make a cake
with a slogan supporting same-sex marriage was not discriminatory.
The five justices on the Supreme Court were unanimous in their judgement.
The high-profile dispute began in 2014 when the bakery refused to make a
cake with the slogan "Support Gay Marriage".

It’s remarkable that the case was tried in court. Their legal counsel must’ve needed some attention. If they had gotten a court order for putting that slogan on the cake, quite a few other organizations of shady descent would have been entitled to put their slogans on full display.

I don't think the legal issue here was about discrimination in the execution of business, but rather about "compelled speech." It was a free speech issue.

So the problem was never WHO they were selling a cake to. The problem was being forced to SAY something on the cake they didn't want to say. This should be a no brainer, but we're living in a world where compelled speech is starting to be a thing.

Yes, a lot of people don’t comprehend that the matter of free speech also is the right to say nothing at all.
