So we all know there's a whole lot of Christian denominations. Churches I would love to go to would be the kind that actually encourage having a relationship with God kinda feel to it. I mean the kinda church where people get emotional during praise and worship! Where people shout, dance, sang (not necessarily sing), cry, laugh, etc. Do you know any churches like that? if so, what denomination are they? I am a person that believes in a/the living God (by living God i mean I believe God can do the wonderful things in the Bible here today too. Also by living I mean that He WILL [if asked] show up, ya know?) I'm open to denominations. I don't think google can answer this question for me ha. thanks! God bless.

We need to be born again (whatever group that might come our way). John 3: the Lord Jesus said: Ye must be born again.

You might try a Messianic Church as many do that sort of thing. Just make sure they also have the Gospel.

This is just Charismatic denominations. I was saved into those sorts of things and have since seriously distanced myself to such ideas, so i'm not big on doing anything to encourage others in it.

it's true that if you find a pentecostal holiness church or something like it you're more likely to see shouting and dancing a lot of emotion - maybe even some epileptic fits - but you might not find the gospel there.
i haven't been to enough churches to really know, but i hear a lot that many churches like that care more about you making a lot of hooplah during service than they care about teaching you to understand the Bible and growing in faith.
i think that's what Ugly is getting at, and i've heard it from a lot of other people too.

you are pretty likely to not find many emotionally engaged and excited people in the pews at a liturgical church like catholic, episcopal or orthodox. oh and the 'church of christ' doesn't believe in having music in service, so that may be one to cross of the list too.
some denominations like lutheran, presbyterian, & methodist have a reputation for being tightly wound & straight lipped, but it's not going to be true of every one. i know i've been to some methodist churches where half the congregation would turn pale as a ghost if you said "AMEN!" when the preacher gave out the Truth, but i've been to others where you needed elbow pads because of all the hand clapping and swaying going on when the choir sang, and the congregation was sad if the preacher didn't run over long with the sermon.

what's really important is that the Word of God is being taught! and where it's being received and the Holy Spirit is really moving, there's going to be joy. i don't think that's confined to any one denomination. there's going to be exceptions to any list anyone gives you.

so i would just start visiting different churches, and praying that God will lead you to the right one - and don't worry that He won't! if there's a lot of shouting and dancing but no one seems to mention Jesus much, you might be on the wrong side of the fence. if they preach out of the Bible but everyone has a frown on their face and you can hear the birds and traffic outside over the praising inside, you might not be at the right place either!

i'd pray God will lead you to where He wants you to be, and visit different churches until the Spirit lets you know you're there. & don't worry :)
one thing about that, i think it tells a lot about how alive a church is if you come to a sunday or wednesday night service, not just sunday morning, when all the people who just show up "because it's sunday morning and we're supposed to" are there.

by the way i love how you said "sang (not necessarily sing)"
AMEN sister God's already got a place on a pew somewhere picked out for you!

I'm far more interested in being a member of a Holy Spirit Led church, than one that is just "affiliated" with Him...... :)

........but, now, I may have a different understanding of "affiliated" than others.........so........

The Church of Christ does indeed believe in music, though of the a cappella variety.

What?? Messianic Church does that?? I have been to one, I'd love to go again but it is for their serious study of the entire bible that made my church's study seem like going to kindergarten. They let some of the congregation form a line along the aisles doing what they called a Davidic Dance, but you had to go to a class to learn how, first and it was only during the singing of hymns by the congregation. It was like a ballet to accompany singing, very beautiful but controlled.

I haven't heard of an emotional church in America, quite the opposite. We mostly just sit there listening to a lecture, with some of us allowed to take special problems we have to the rail where others come forward to pray with us. The amount of personal worship done during this lecture is left up to each person, but it is to be done quietly.

Music? A Cappella?

How exactly does that work?

???

:)

............goodness...........
A cappella - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It's interesting to note that "a cappella" literally means "in the manner of the church" in Italian. It's a genre of music that does not include instrumental sound, allowing for the voice itself to be the instrument. This article though can explain it much better than I. God bless you.

i agree with you. that wouldve been a better word to use. i said affiliated because some denominations (so it seem like) dont care too much about letting the holy spirit do anything with their services. thanks. idk if/how i could change that

i disagree. i believe some denominations that fit this description are actually passionate about God. i go to a nondenominational church thats like this every sunday. and the message that comes afterwards arent those feel good messages either (if thats what you qualify as charismatic). atleast my preachers tell us the things we might not necessarily want to here.

It all starts with being born again: exercising saving faith in the Lord Jesus, Who died at the Cross for sinners. Romans 8 says: 'If anyone have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His'.

You wont find a Holy Spirit led church. That Spirit coming around is extremely rare. You can't just ask guidance from a Holy Spirit and have the Spirit appear. That would be great though, it would contradict every religion in the world in my opinion. The Spirit would tell people who to kill, who can get be put down when they're ready, and much much more. A Holy Spirit led church isn't possible I don't think. There aren't even people in the world who are able to speak as they wish to a Holy Spirit. An adult would have to never have spoken from text for the position of speaking freely to the Spirit.

I seriously don't think people would want the Holy Spirit to guide their lives. It may go against their own set of morals and values.
