Hi, I'm looking for people who might be part of, or know about, the Lakewood Church in Houston. It's the megachurch led by Joel Osteen.

:)

Hi, I didn't say that I'm a fan of Osteen's theology or church. I'm simply studying the megachurch phenomenon, and have chosen Lakewood as an example for closer research. My studies aren't linked to my church or Christian faith as such, although my interest in this issue is still based on my Christian identity.

Osteen publicly denied Christ on national television (http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0506/20/lkl.01.html). His church is large, but the gospel that is preached there is sinless, meaning they don't preach repentance from sin. What type of information are you looking for specifically?
Here's a video of what he said.

I don't know if he exactly denied Jesus. All he seems to be saying to me is that he believes Jesus is the way, but he's going to leave the judging to God. He says it's God's job to judge hearts, not his.

The caller calls in and says Jesus is the only way and he agrees with her.

I know he's weak on preaching the realities of hell and he does preach a very light and fluffy prosperityish gospel.

But to be fair, I just don't think you can say he denied Jesus here. He says he presents the truth and leaves the judging up to God.

I know some are going to think I'm validating his ministry here and that's not what I'm doing at all. I just think it's best we get our arguments correct if you're going to accuse someone of something. Kinda goes back to that whole, don't bare false witness commandment.

Hi people. Thanks for your comments so far. I'm not really that interested in the theological debate over the Lakewood church at this stage. I'm far more interested in getting into touch with some of the people who attend or know the church.

So if you know about (or attend, better) Lakewood Church in Houston Texas, feel free to make contact.

Okay now I'm getting paranoid...

Lately Youtube has been trying to push a video at me where somebody psychoanalyzes a Joel Olstein sermon. And now this thread pops up... >.>

I have watched Lakewood church on the internet.

This "zombie thread" is from 2009!

Why on earth would you resurrect it? How on earth did you know where to look to find it?

hmm...............
