Selfless Pregnant Mother Decides To Carry Baby Without Brain Full Term To Donate Organs | The Huffington Post
I'm against abortion unless the baby is already dead or in cases where the labor would cause the mother to die. However, I think everyone would agree that this woman is making an incredibly tough decision. Doctors have told this woman and her husband that their baby will not develop a brain and, because of this, will only live a few hours. Despite this, the mother has decided to carry the baby to term because a) the baby has a right to meet her parents, even if she dies soon after birth, and b) because the organs can be donated to save the lives of other infants.
I can't even imagine being placed in this situation and, while I full-heartedly believe the right thing to do would be to carry the baby to term and give her the life she deserves, I can't picture what I'd do in the face of this type of news. However, I definitely don't know if I'd be selfless enough to think of organ donation and a time like that. Let's all pray that God work a miracle in this couple's life and, against all odds, a brain does develop and the baby survive. However, even if God doesn't do that, let's pray that He stay with the couple through their grief and times of trouble and, if they are not Christians, bring them to Him.
