Forgotten Christianity
of the early fathers...
If psyche is life, and mind, and the soul that is to be saved, so that our soul is identical with our thinking and feeling, then it seems likely that, as the early fathers of the church taught, it matters very much what we think or feel within us, for the soul may be totally changed by our thinking and feeling. This being so, there is a famous saying in Matthew that is full justification for Christians taking the inner view of human nature. "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.”

Man, every sermon i listen to anywhere, internet, radio stations, church, forums, even people is about the church being hypocritical. It is no coincidence. God is telling us to repent and start following Him like we should. He is talking to us really loud, and we better listen.
