So...Jesus used the King James Version then ....good to know.
John 14: 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
There are two origins for source documents: one from Antioch:
Acts 11:26And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
And the other one from Alexandria where poetic licensing & gnosticism was known in the area. Certainly by comparing the documents together, one can see what words they had kept in proving that poetic licensing was taken place.
Even though there are enough verses to testify of the deity of Christ in the NIV, choice verses are always pulled out of context for cults to thrive on as it would be those verses utilized in their teachings that would suffer changes.
So which source documents would you rely on? The ones in use by those that loved Him and His words that they would wore out the old manuscripts with newer ones or the oldest ones sitting on the shelf as proof as not being used by His disciples that loved Him & His words?
Here's proof of His disciples keeping His words from the early churches in the NT and thus down through the church history.
Note how Paul instruct Timothy in this wise that testify that churches did indeed had a collection of what is called the Bible before history recorded officially when that first collected Bible was called the Codexis.
2 Timothy 3:14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Did they not use scripture as reference in Acts?
Acts 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
Did they not began writing letters in Acts to the churches?
Acts 15:22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren: 23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.
Acts 15:30 So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle: 31 Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation. 32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them. 33 And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. 34 Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still. 35 Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Colossians 4:16And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; and that ye likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.
1 Thessalonins 5:I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
Now I ask you with charges like that for an epistle, how much more would the disciples have the four gosple, Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John be written and shared to all the churches?
Why else would there be an argument over genealogies as we have contentions today between Matthew & Luke's account?
1 Timothy 1:4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
Titus 3:9But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
Paul testified of knowing John having his "Revelation" experiences:
2 Corinthians 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
So my point here is... His disciples took Jesus at His words in making disciples of other believers by having His words available for believers to continue in them.
John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free...36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
That means just because known history reported when Bibles were being mass produced in publication, it does not mean that the collection of this Bible was not being done earlier for the NT churches. Its significance is obvious since errant Bible versions has made believers disciples of something else in His name and not His disciples in serving Him by testifying of Him in seeking His glory.
Look at how believers have become a disciple of a church in testifying of a church in seeking the glory of a church. That is proof on how believers need Hsi words to be His disciple and not a disciple of something else in His name.
2 Timothy 4:13The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
So I am confident that Jesus' words are true that His disciples that loved Him has kept His words for us to know and can be found in the source documents from Antioch: the as it is from the Textus Receptus from which the King James Bible was translated.
