I got into a debate with a friend of mine who is studying cultural outreach. I told her white people don't have a culture. We've stolen the elements we like of other cultures and made it our own. She told me I was wrong, and that culture is this huge thing… blah blah blah. As Americans we don't really have a culture as a group. We have micro cultures based on us as individuals because God forbid we actually connect with others. We're so focused on ourselves that we miss the bigger picture.
I should have used I statements, and I apologize if my post sounds attacking or insensitive. Sometimes I talk too much, and I have too many thoughts. It's also 4 am here in sunny California. I should sleep and stop rambling. And I'm typing this from my phone. It's really annoying to post from my phone. Does anyone else post from their phone? This paragraph probably belongs in the streams of consciousness thread. Why am I not sleeping?
