'pharmakeia' is the Greek word for pharmacy, which is the practice and making of medication and vitamins. Using your argument I guess you could say that physicians who promote pharmacy products are Witchdoctors. It's true that some plants are toxic, yet some of those very same plants, when prepared and administered accordingly can heal. I would not shoot Heroin, yet I would accept a shot of Morphine which is the same thing. Asthmatics have to inhale medicine. I haven't had an asthma attack or serious respiratory illness since I started smoking cannabis. It is also prepared in topical ointments, oils, is used in cooking and gel capsules, and vaporized. So, not all people who use cannabis are smoking it. Inhaling smoke or vapor is just one method of administering medicine.
As for the corruption of plants, plants don't sin. The Garden of Eden was meant to be for all people forever, but Adams sin ruined the plan. Thorns, thistles would be a contrast to the perfect garden they once enjoyed. And farming the fields was how they would have to provide food for themselves and their family outside of the Garden.
pharmakeia is a greek word that refers to the use of herbal 'medicines' in pagan or spiritist rituals...cannabis was one of the most common pharmakeia herbs in ancient times...

the curse of sin is the reason some plants now produce thorns and poisons...and why cannabis does what it does...no such plants are in their perfect created state any more...

I don't agree with taking drugs like marijuana on a daily basis to get high, but where in the bible does it say plants got corrupted by the fall of man? I think God did make it the way it is, I think it's the abuse of it.
i posted the scripture above but maybe you missed it...here it is again...

genesis 3:18..."Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field;"

this verse appears in the passage where God is announcing the curse of sin against adam and eve and the serpent...the transition of plants from all being beneficial to some being useless or harmful to humans is the part of the curse i quoted...

This is such a touchy subject with people.
subjects that convict people of sin are always going to be touchy...especially when the world minimizes it but the bible strongly condemns it...for example homosexuality is in this same category of 'touchy subjects' where some people just can't seem to handle the conviction...

anyway i have to do a lot of stuff today so i don't want to be on the computer for too long...if i have time i may post more information on the links between marijuana and ritual magic later...

Lots of pharmaceuticals are witchcraft, the reason why I say this is because they are poisonous (notice all those side effects which can include death, really?) also I am not sure if the majority of the masses in the west in the west knows about this, it does not seem like it. From experience anti psychotics are terrible and can cause brain shrinkage (Brain Damage Caused by Neuroleptic Psychiatric Drugs — MFIPortal) and also doing research and hearing testimonies suggests the same thing for anti depressants, I am still so unsure about vitamins but whatever the Holy Spirit says is wrong and you know it then it is wrong for sure. Another part of pharmakos is that its poison, if its poisoning your body it is witchcraft, alcohol for example can become witchcraft, the majority of drugs are witchcraft and they allow spirits or demons to come in your mind. This also includes cigarettes, yes cigarettes are a sin (they are poisonous and addictive)! For the body is a temple and anything that is destroying the body is a sin against the temple of God, consider the following:

the majority of drug users that use marijuana end up doing more 'hard' drugs, and before anyone claims its a general saying with no basis, coming from a background where my 'friends' were using drugs, we started off with you guessed it, smoking and then progressively it went from that to other drugs.

Also many people SMOKE marijuana which affects your heart and lungs negatively, so therefore we can say that cannabis consumption for the most part is wrong and sinful, especially considering that it increases a persons SENSUALITY (carnal senses). Just because the HUMAN law says something is legal does not make it legal in the sight of the LORD (ex: adult stores, cigarettes, and alcohol/liquor stores).

There are alternative treatments if you do research that use more natural approaches such as vitamins, exercise, holistic approaches, lastly:

"Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord." James 5:14 is a viable option for many especially if your church is active in the Spirit.

It is a good idea to always look for alternatives before listening to your doctor who may have good intentions but they are trained and educated it a certain way that certain treatments are either disregarded or ridiculed or not even mentioned.
(ex: there are various ways of combating cancer that are MUCH healthier than taking chemotherapy).

Because some used it for witchcraft purposes, that means all medical uses of it is witchcraft?

Recreational use of pot/mary jane/weed/etc, is sin.

On the other hand, some of these other prescription drugs can do more damage than pot.
If a Christian is posed with a truly medical use of pot, or use of a prescription drug that can do way more damage, which should the Christian choose?

BTW I'm totally sick of potheads using the medical "compassion" argument as justification to toke away for recreational purposes. Most of us can see through their coy rhetoric.

Such a covering is made for sin.
People fight and cling for something they love to their flesh.
Comparing it to other 'worse' sinful habits.
(Anyone who thinks ANY substance or feeling which yields pleasure is not addictive is just fooling themselves)

marijuana is basically a plant whose sole reason for human consumption throughout recorded history has been only witchcraft...i don't think some modern people claiming that their use is 'medicinal' changes that...

that is like saying that if someone starts to use tarot cards to diagnose illnesses then it is no longer witchcraft...

in response to your second point...the issue is not the physical damage done by the various drugs...my view is that marijuana does -spiritual- damage...which is worse than any physical damage since we are to fear harm to our souls more than harm to our bodies...so given the choice between a prescription drug that does physical damage and marijuana which does spiritual damage...i would choose the prescription drug...

So people that use marijuana to ease pain and nausea brought on by cancer and chemotherapy are practicing witchcraft. Yeah. By the way, where in the Bible does it say that a plant can cause spiritual damage?

The Bible doesn't condemn using any plant for medicinal purposes nor does it say any plant can cause spiritual damage.

So maybe they're not using that argument to justify smoking marijuana for recreational purposes. Maybe they're actually using it for medicinal reasons. Besides, isn't that between them and God?

If this was true, that the word pharmaceutical refers to witchcraft, then anything sold in a pharmacy is about witchcraft, which is obviously ludicrous. In addition, marijuana hasn't been distributed as a pharmaceutical until just recently. So did it become a thing of witchcraft when it became legalized as a pharmaceutical drug? Yeah, that makes sense. NOT.

galatians 5:19-21..."Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

the greek word that is translated as 'witchcraft' here is 'pharmakeia'

'pharmakeia' doesn't refer to pharmaceuticals in general...specifically it refers to the use of plants to do magic or interact with the spirit world...which is the -only- thing marijuana has historically been used for until very recently...now some people do the -exact same things- with it but they call it 'medicine'...

to understand more about what pharmakeia really is you should research the historically close relationship between witchcraft and mind altering plants... until the very recent invention of modern neopagan religions such as wicca...witchcraft has always revolved around the use of mind altering plants... for example...have you ever wondered why witches were commonly depicted as green skinned people flying on brooms? it is because historically witches would apply solutions made from hallucinogenic plants to their skin...one of the plants looked like broomlike and it contained a hallucinogen that produced a sensation of floating or flying...a 'high'...
