The following quote is from a book written by a Holocaust survivor. I think it frames our ability to make choices very well.

God gives wisdom to those who ask for wisdom. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (James 1:5-8)

In fact the Bible has a group of five books called "Wisdom books". Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Ecclesiasticus and Wisdom. So God is very concerned about Christians having wisdom.

CORRECTION. MY APOLOGIES.
Ecclesiasticus and Wisdom should be excluded from the list. Those two are apocryphal books (in Catholic bibles) and I should not have included them. Instead Psalms and Song of Solomon are in the Protestant bibles.

I have read these, and studied for some time. Much study can come to naught if one can not properly apply these words to our daily lives.
