The text is John 17:20-22
Jesus is praying to the Father. I have a question about this.
Then Jesus prays that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me,
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me and I in thee, that they also may be one in us.
And finally he tells the Father: the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.
Now we know that God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one (not dividing the substance).
But the big question is: how can a million people be one, even as God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit are one.
Let me know what you think?

This scripture is a bit confusing. I can understand being a sweet savour of Christ if we are saved, but how are we a sweet savour of Christ if we perish? Please explain. Thank you.
John Gill explains it this way:

2 Corinthians 2:14, which success he illustrates by dividing the persons to whom he preached the Gospel, into two classes, they that are saved, and they that perish, 2 Corinthians 2:15, on whom it had different effects, diffusing death, and adding death to death in the one, and communicating life, and adding life to life in the other: and lest he should be thought to arrogate too much to himself, and other ministers of the word, of whom he speaks, he acknowledges his and their insufficiency to preach the Gospel, and make it effectual; and that all fitness for it, and all the virtue and efficacy of it, were from the Lord, 2 Corinthians 2:16, and then gives the reason why he, and the rest of the faithful ministers of the Gospel, were a sweet savour to Christ, as he had asserted, because they did not, as others, corrupt this box of ointment, but faithfully and sincerely poured it out, without mixing and adulterating it; and this they did as being in the view of the omniscient God, to whom they could appeal for their integrity and honesty,

Maybe this will help.

John 11:35) Jesus wept.

I had two topics get clipped lol. One was about coming to Jesus as a little child, another about only worrying about what was revealed and not chasing rabbit trails. Yes, they were a little judgemental but I thought I could slide them by. 😎
Now I’m seeing things. Those threads I thought were clipped, are back. Hmm, okay
Were they new threads you had started?
All new threads go through a pending period, so you won't see them post right away, even though on your screen at first it looks like you can see it. But that is why they seem to be "clipped" or disappear- because they are in the pending stage.

Does nobody have the answer to post #96526? A kingdom is going to be set up by Jesus between 400ad and now, and there is no interest? That's interesting.
It's not that there is "no interest"...
it's just that THIS thread tends to be more relaxed and less focused on heavy, debatable topics.
There are plenty of threads in the BDF that get into things like that, or you're welcome to start your own thread on the specific topic.

i'm sorry, i didn't see your question. we have always attempted to keep things light-hearted in this thread, as GG said. the most heavily debated topic lately has been what's the best donut. :D

we share a scripture, pray for one another... just basically be a family. please do feel most welcome to participate in that way! and of course you may post anything you wish; everyone does. welcome to SYM! :)

Stormy night here in Ok City. Tornadic at times too. There were 56,000 lightening strikes recorded as the storm moved over us. That's a bunch of strikes, YIKES! Thank God, I have not heard of any serious injuries. Few folkes with minor cuts and bruises at best.

Ya know, there are two places I have never met an atheist. In a foxhole during a firefight, and when a tornado is bearing down on people. (just saying)

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

John 14:27 (KJV)
