There have been times that the Lord seemed, indifferent to the things of the world. In the temple, he just walked off from his mother, who went looking for him, and said he must be about his father's business. At the wedding he said, women why are you concerned about these things, NLT that's not our problem, English Version { woman, what does this have to do with me? My time has not yet come. Do you think, that the Lord thought that the people at the wedding, were lusting after wanting more wine, and he knew it was a thing of the fleshly desires. 1Peter 1:14 if taken spiritually says a lot. Lusting of the mind, as you want it now, in disobedience to 1Peter 1:13. As to gird up your mind, and be self controlled. These teaching follow in the writings.

I've often thought that the first miracle of water turning into wine showed that God can still affect substance as He did in the OT. This miracle came before any healing of the physical bodies.

That is why I ask the Lord to bless every pill or medicinal drop I take. I believe that just as He can bless (alter in some mysterious way) food, so can He do so with medicine. (I'm still waiting for the water to turn....)

Another time I read it, I was struck wth the fact that our joy and celebration of the sacredness of marriage might mean something to the Lord. That He wanted us to know our joy was also His delight.

Another time...... and so on. Lots of lessons that the Holy Spirit has given me each time I have read about this first miracle.

No. The Lord Jesus was saying to His mother that He is about doing the work of the Father, in the Father's time, this what the Lord Jesus had to do with, not doing the works of Mary, the power of God not about miraculous wedding catering. It was a statement of the mission of the Lord Jesus and the sole authority of the Father. Mary went on to understand this, when she took Jesus on faith, not knowing what He would do, but submitting to His will, telling people to just do whatever He tells them to. This was rather an expression of faith by Mary.

The Lord said His time had not yet come a number of times, as well as stating when His time had come. You can search for those verses, if you wish.

An aside that's interesting of this first public miracle of the Lord Jesus, it would seem to imply the Lord had performed the miraculous before, seeing that Mary presented the wine problem, and obvious the Lord didn't run a wine shop. I don't know, but it's just interesting Mary presented such a dilemma, expecting Jesus to do something extraordinary, as if she knew He was up to such things.

Saving the best wine for last...

2 Corinthians 3:6-8 (KJV)
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

Amazing just goes to show the Lord knew the future and he needed to show that no one was in charge there as over him you are right, and no one should put his mothers Mary over him, this is a good example and a good word Jesus said. God is love.

Yes, the Lord Jesus was very God come down from heaven to man. The Lord had [has] the heart and mind of God, the Holy Spirit without measure, this also why all His teachings are so deep and perfect.

I wouldn't think lust was the problem as Jesus gave them even better wine after when usually the inferior wine is given when the senses are dull..hic.

Regarding the Wedding:Jn 2:1-8

1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
KJV

It seems noteworthy that Jesus put honoring His mother of greater importance than doing things in their proper time; and that this was NOT regarded as sin.

what have I to do with thee? This seems almost disrespectful in the English! In the Greek,
Τί ἐμοὶ καὶ σοί translates as what to me and to you; and means that doesn't concern us.

Even after being told that it was not yet time for miracles; Mary put Jesus in the position of having to do things outside their proper time or embarrassing her. In other words (for those who venerate Mary) she sinned.

*This is a good.*Ty. *Jesus would never do anything that would be sinful, neither a temptation. I thought about the time our Lord was on the mountain, and the people were in need of food, he took the few fish *and few loaves, and met their needs. Someone once said, you keep talking about your gospel, don't care about my family and my children. Also reminds me of scripture" The one who said to the other, go in peace, be warm, and fed, and didn't bother to open the door. Yes we have a mighty God, and Savior, who is Love. So Jesus our Friend, pulled through again, meeting people's needs. Ty for a explanation, I see something I didn't see before. Blessings.
