Except a man is born again he is still in the flesh, and also carnally minded.
No clearly the scriptures teach that those under the law (legalism in all its religious forms and traditions) are in fact in the flesh and not in the Spirit!

Anyone who teaches the law of Moses is a false teacher! plain and simple!
Mitspa I think you and I are friends....but it is not Moses's law....it is God's law that Moses wrote down......So it is o.k. to teach God's law....if we don't teach it How are you going to know that you not uspose to steal? or lie? or commit adultery?......Not suppose to cuss either especially using God's name....those are no, nos...... Even God said He would write His laws on our hearts....so how can it be false teaching if even God is writing His laws on our hearts.. Oh, that's NT by the way...and I think what God says overrides Paul just a little. But then that is Blond thinking.....and you have heard all the jokes I'm sure about us....Blonds that is.......I am a real Blond too not a bottle Blond......but then again I am a woman and half of the men on CC don't think I outta to be talking or teaching anyone.....is this church I am speaking in? or is this just CC?

P.S. 4000th post have to celebrate a little......WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!

You're right my brother, and there is indeed a time and necessity for such teachings, but I stand by my words. Too much fear drives people away from the faith, and thus, away from eternal life. Most people who have walked away from the faith have not done so because they don't believe in God or the message of love, forgiveness and grace, they've walked away because fear, guilt, punishment and damnation are taught ad nauseam.
Well there is plenty of feel good preachers out there that is willing to tell them what they want to hear, instead of what the Lord and the apostles preached, which was Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand! He came to call sinners not the righteous.

Well, there goes half the New Testament then or all the writings of Paul:

Ephesians chapter 6

[1] Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
[2] Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise):
[3] That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Why did Paul cite this OLD TESTAMENT "COMMANDMENT" (Exodus 20:12, Deuteronomy 5:16) TO NEW TESTAMENT SAINTS?

I could just as easily show you where other NEW TESTAMENT APOSTLES did the same, so should we just throw out our Bibles?

Just passin' thru...

:)
Well a child is under the law to their parents...Paul is not teaching the judgment and condemnation of the law...He is teaching the good we see and desire to keep...but a child is under its parents and not under the Spirit of God. The law is good if its used lawfully...but to teach the law to be justified is absolute error! Even to a child!

The first state of man is flesh......the born again man is Spirit.

John 3:6-7[SUP]6 [/SUP]That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

What part of the Commandment to love others from the heart...does not fulfill what the law demanded? And the point is that the written code is not to justify anyone...anyone who teaches a believer can be justified by any part of the law of Moses is a FALSE TEACHER! plain and simple :) We are not under the "letter" we are under the Spirit...written in our hearts and its simply fulfilled through faith working by love.

That's the point Paul makes here....you begin in the Spirit by faith and then turn back to the flesh and the law of moses...read it...that's what it clearly says! And that who Peter is warning also for turning from the "way of righteousness" back to the flesh...the law being the strength of sin!

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Its still a "law" but its not the written code of Moses! HUGE! HUGE! difference ...that's why the New Testament takes so much time on this very issue...in fact until a believer really sees this truth? They cannot walk in the Spirit as they should!

My original point was not about the law, that's what you tried to make it. My point was about passing from flesh to Spirit by being born again of the Holy Spirit. (nothing to do with the law of Moses)

It is the point because Paul goes on to explain that if you turn from grace back to the law..YOU ARE CURSED by the law! That's the whole truth of what it means to be a "cursed" child!

Peter is talking about believers who turn from grace back to the law!

Feel good has nothing to do with it. Which of the following is Scripture?

Fear the Lord always, again I say fear, or, Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice!

Rhetorical question. We both know the answer.

My point is, except you are born again you cannot stop sinning. That is what the cursed children is about, they are unable to cease from sin because they are yet in the first nature of man, which is flesh. 2 Peter 2:14
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

Here's the curse.

In Zechariah 5:1-4 we read “Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll.[SUP]2 [/SUP]And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off as on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off as on that side according to it.
[SUP]
4
[/SUP]I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.”

Those who swear falsely by the Lords name, these are hypocrites.

2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

This is the righteousness of faith!

Ro 10:3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God

The warning of 2nd Peter is to legalist!

Being under the law is being in the flesh!

Ga 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
An obvious sign that someone is preaching from a wrong interpretation of scripture is when they insist that one verse contradicts and cancels out another verse.

Nothing Peter or Paul teaches contradicts the other. Both are teaching under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

I would encourage you to ask God for guidance so that you may understand a more complete interpretation of scripture. To insist that they are in contradiction is proof positive that your perspetive needs correction.

Fear as in respect, honor and revere, not quiver.
I could just as easily provide "trembling" verses, but why bother?

The bottom line is this:

Christians ought to BOTH love God AND fear Him and there are plenty of scriptural examples to back BOTH.

Anyhow, as usual, I've gotten myself involved in too many threads at once. Since I really don't feel led to further pursue this conversation at the moment, I'm unsubscribing.

See you around the forum.

Good day to you.
