Where do we find the instructions of love? "thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the Lord." Leviticus 19:18

These verses may seem to contradict each other but they don't.

fear 5399 to frighten, i.e. (passively) to be alarmed; by analogy, to be in awe of, i.e. revere:--be (+ sore) afraid, fear (exceedingly), reverence.
fear 5401 from a primary phebomai (to be put in fear); alarm or fright:--be afraid, + exceedingly, fear, terror.

One is human fear and the other is spiritual fear.

By the way, I was in Vietnam so I know about the military. That was during this nations decline that endorsed and tolerated moral decline during the movement of the hippie generation which is also my generation. The military was their worse enemy. Did we assist in their agenda by loving them man's way instead of God's way? "Perfect" love casts out fear, therefore let us fear.

What are your thoughts on how the United States used to be morally Bible oriented (for the most part) during WW2 and in the short span of 70 to 80 years, we have become so corrupt? Does it have something to do with the lack of moral Godly teaching that emanates from the modern church in the last half century ya think? You call me carnal minded, because I speak as Jesus spoke and you speak as a pharisee and lover of the law. Jesus spoke against the traditions and oral torah Law in Mark 7.


All Paul is saying in Acts 24:12-14 is that he believes in the OT scriptures and not the traditions and oral torah Law he was previously taught as a Pharisee. Acts 22.3, Philippians 3.5 and Galatians 1.14 bear this out. Because Paul does not talk about the traditions of his fathers in Acts 24, the meaning is simple. Paul believed the OT writing and those of the prophets as do I. So what is your point in bringing up Acts 24? Oh you think he meant oral law of the torah and the traditions of the Law. You must also think that Paul was still under the law because of his Vow. In simple terms you are trying to convince us that because Paul did these things, we are still under the law because he was. You are forcing people to stay under the law because of 1 Cor 9.20

Stay here if you like, but that is not at all what the Gospel preaches. I do not need the Mishnah or Talmud or need to know super secret gnostic meanings of the vow Paul took.

Actually there are more foreign missionaries coming to the USA to spread the Gospel than the USA is sending out. US Missionaries are coming off the filed in waves, for one reason:

Imagine standing in line by a sign indicating "IF YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN LINE UP FOR A BEATING". As you step forward you see bloody flesh flying through the air. You are next. Will you stay in line?

There are sufferings we are eligible for because of his name, "IF" the world hates you". Does the world know you follow Jesus? If it doesn't seem to be, the world won't likely hate you. Let's look at a little more context.

Sorry. I assumed I was replying to a post, like this time.

No degree at all of what Jesus suffered could be claimed by any of us. That just caught my eye. The Greek word kathos is supposed to always mean along the line of "Since I am an American, I can vote." My vote privilege is not according to some degree of citizenship. It is "on account of", "insomuch as", "insofar as" being a citizen. So since I am in Christ I am partaker in the benefit of his suffering. Beyond that the scripture leaves whatever comparatively miniscule suffering on an "if" basis, "if" the world hate us because of our association with that name "Jesus", "that" Jesus.

I make much out of that point because we Americans in general don't yet taste of sufferings many Christians (and Jews, and Buddhists, and....) in the world have tasted because of their religious affiliation. We really haven't even comprehended it from just seeing the news on TV. If the car gets repossessed due to loss of job some are tempted to say they are suffering for Jesus. No, no, no. Now, if the bank decided to foreclose (while payments are up to date) because they hate you because you love Jesus and won't deny him before the bank board, then you are suffering persecution for his namesake.
